Account data

Account data

I requested a copy of my data for my disabled account by chat and also by emailing support and was completely ignored. Is there a specific department I can contact for this? Why would I not have the right to my own data even if my account is disabled? I was a paid subscriber for that account for almost 10 years.

Hello MCA94, It's concerning to hear that you haven't received a response regarding your request for a copy of your data from Spotify's support team. Typically, Spotify provides users with the ability to request a copy of their personal data, even if their account is disabled.

Here are a few steps you can take to try and get a response:

  1. Try contacting Spotify's support team again. You can reach out to them via the contact form on their website, through the support section of the Spotify app, or by tweeting at @SpotifyCares on Twitter. When you reach out, be sure to provide them with as much information as possible about your account and your previous requests for a copy of your data.

  2. If you still don't receive a response, you can try contacting Spotify's Data Protection Officer (DPO) directly. The DPO is responsible for overseeing Spotify's data protection practices and ensuring compliance with data protection laws. You can contact the DPO by sending an email to dpo at spotify dot com.

  3. If all else fails, you can contact your local data protection authority to file a complaint. The authority will investigate your complaint and work with Spotify to resolve the issue.

It's important to note that Spotify has certain legal obligations when it comes to providing users with access to their personal data, even if their account is disabled. You have the right to request a copy of your data and to have any inaccuracies corrected. If Spotify is not fulfilling these obligations, you have recourse to file a complaint with the appropriate authorities.

Keep me posted on your situation,

Thanks so much for this info! I will try reaching out to support one more time but am not optimistic they will respond. I never even got a response when I requested data from my active account! The people on chat support usually just disconnect. If I'm lucky they escalate to someone else who says they will have someone get back to me by email which never happens. This is the first I have heard about contacting the DPO, so maybe I will have more luck with that.

What I really want is to get my disabled account back. I replied many times to the emails which informed me my account was being disabled and am completely ignored. If you have any advice on who to contact about that other than the content protection team, I would greatly appreciate it! Until then I am trying to get what info I can from the account. Thanks again!

Okay yeah I’d keep reaching out if you still haven’t heard anything.  If you have already tried reaching out to the content protection team and have not received a response, you can try contacting Spotify's customer support team directly. You can do this by going to Spotify's support page and selecting "Contact us" at the bottom of the page. From there, you can choose to send an email or use their chat feature to speak with a customer support representative.

When you contact them, be sure to explain the situation and provide any relevant information such as your account details and the emails you have received regarding the account suspension. They should be able to assist you further and help you get your account reinstated if possible.

I hope you can get your account back MCA,

Hi Prague,

I emailed support again and still no response after a few weeks. I also recently tried emailing the DPO but it seems that the email address was not valid. I'd appreciate if you could possibly find the correct one for me!

Thanks!

Paw-some to see you!

I'm sorry to hear that you haven't received a response from Spotify support or the Data Protection Officer (DPO) email address alternative that was found wasn't valid. It can be frustrating when you need assistance and aren't getting a timely response.

Alternatively, you could try reaching out to Spotify customer support through their social media channels, such as Twitter or Facebook, as they may be able to assist you with finding the correct email address or resolving your issue.

The link provided to the Spotify data rights and privacy settings should also have information on how to contact support directly.

My tail is a-waggin' for the latest news on the situation,

I have tried reaching out to the DPO for the past 4 weeks requesting a copy of my data and have not received any type of response.

I don't understand why this would be denied since it is in the data and privacy policy. I also tried reaching out through Twitter, who just recommended me to email support who also doesn't reply. Not sure what other options there are.
