Can't skip songs anymore on Android auto through car controls

My Question or Issue

For the past few months I haven't been able to skip songs on Spotify through my car controls, when using android auto.  apple music works, though.  

I have tried reinstalling the spotify app, disabling and re-learning car's bluetooth, and reinstalling and different configurations with android auto.

Would you mind letting us know what happens exactly when you try to skip the songs through your car controls?

Additionally, could you let us know if the issue started happening after a specific event such as an update?

On another note, you mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a normal one?
