ERROR: Spotify not playing next song

Solved!

ERROR: Spotify not playing next song

I'm not sure if I'm the only one experiencing this. For some reason, Spotify will not automatically play the next song. This started happening after the newest Android update. Is there a way to fix this? I'm running Android 4.4.2 on the Galaxy Note 3. Thanks in advance.

Spotify updated it's app! I received it this morning. So it should be available to everyone now, if not it is rolling out. As far as I know, it does fix this issue. I will continue to test this all day. If this issue is fixed or not, I will update this post accordingly.

It may be the power saving button oooor I'd you have clean master disable the amplified charger settings in the options I think it may shut off 'unecessary' power drainers and it gets caught in the cross fire

Disabling the app Clean Masters "Boost Charge" function worked for me.

Have a Galaxy s5 and it's doing the same thing. I've tried logging out, moving songs to different playlists, turning gapless off, and reinstalling. Nothing seems to work.

I have a moto g and the same is happening to me and it's sooo annoying! I tried everything but the problem is still here. Someo

same here, also when I want to shuffle my numbers I click on Shuffle, then it plays usually the same song. Afterwards when I click on forward to skip the song, the app doesn't respond. Really really strange behavior 😞

Also does it happen to you guys as well that the album art doesn't match with the currently playing song?

I've had the song covers go out of sync a few times, but it isn't near as big a problem as these songs not going to the next. I'm spending hours sanding a car down and it's getting incredibly annoying having to stop and go to my phone to continue to the next song. I've had this problem for a week now and I'm not going to stick with spotify if this doesn't get fixed soon.

Same problem with s5

Yeah I have this as well on S5 with kitkat os.

Same issue, Android 4.3 on a GT-I9505. Already went through all the motions of deleting data (ouch, the redownloads took a long time), uninstalling Spotify, etc..

Filling in the template:

Description

As others have mentioned, some songs will not automatically advance to the next one. I have to manually press the next button. After experimenting with shuffle on and off, it seems to be based on the current song, not what the next song is.

This is an issue on 2.2.0.636 (latest Google Play version). I have tested a copy of 2.1.0.903 (restored via Titanium Backup, the last one I was using prior to updating five days ago), and it does not exhibit this issue. I will be using this older version until this is fixed. I'm happy to test any other versions you can provide.

What are the steps you took to get to the error/issue?

1. Deleted cache, reinstalled Spotify from Google Play

2. Added last.fm account (possibly not necessary to repro)

3. Only occurs on some songs. Using "Hot" by Avril Lavigne as an example.

4. Set download quality to extreme (again, possibly not necessary)

5. Go to "Your Music" => "Artists" => "Avril Lavigne" (all five major albums "saved")

6. Download all of this artist

7. Select the song "Hot" from the downloaded music artist page

8. Skip to near the end (optional - saves ~3 minutes)

9. I would expect it to advance to the next track when the song ends. It does not. Instead, it sits at the end of the current track - the pause button is there. Also looks like it  tries to go 2 seconds past the end before jumping back.

Note that this does not occur for all tracks. It has occurred on this one track for all cache wipes and reinstalls I have attempted. It also occures on some other tracks, including a playlist I downloaded from local files on my desktop.

What I expected to happen

Expected the player to advance to the next song.

I am on the Galaxy S3 and am having the same issue. I have cleared all devices that were authorized fire offline. I have cleared the cache and data, uninstalled Spotify, shut the phone off, removed the battery, returned the battery, powered the phone on, used a file explorer to ensure there were no remaining traces of Spotify on the phone, the installed Spotify from the play store.

After all of that, I log in with my Facebook login, then on my Wi-Fi, changed the download quality to extreme instead of normal, gone to my playlists and downloaded it again. I start a downloaded track, and one it gets to the end of the track it stops and doesn't continue to the next track until I hit the next button.

If anyone finds an actual fix, please tell us. This is really frustrating.

I didn't even think of going back to the previous version. Thanks for the link.

Thanks for that, unfortunately install fails with "This app could not be installed" for me.

Another workaround for me has been to pause and unpause using the inline controls of my headphones. Hopefully it's fixed in the next google play release.

Make sure you have enabled 'Unknown Sources' in the Android scurity settings to be able to install apk's directly. If it stll fails you may have to uninstall the current version in order to be able to revert (note, this will clear any settings and offline files).

If you have a lot of offline content then you may be better off just waiting for a fixed update.

Already had phone setup to allow install of any apk.

Yeah I would have just tried uninstalling but with about 20GB of offline music synced to my phone it's easier to just wait for an update than resync.

Yeah, I'm also 'putting up with it' until fixed as I dont want to clear my downloaded playlists either.
