Podcast Playlist total playtime not showing

Podcast Playlist total playtime not showing

My podcast playlist on the phone is no longer showing the total playtime hours.(On my windows desktop app it still does).
I tried reinstalling and starting a new playlist, neither worked. I also added a song to the playlist and then a run time started but only counting the song.

Has the total time feature been removed for podcasts?
Also I am unhappy with the removal of the add to homescreen option on specific playlists. I didn't realise this was taken away before reinstalling and I'm very unhappy about it as I lost my shortcuts.

Thank you!

Duration of playlists which consist of podcasts stop to be shown since 02.07.2023

I have a podcast playlist and up until recently it showed me how long the playlist is, how many hours it is. That disappeared unfortunately. Why? Is it possible to get that back?

Hey there folks,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

Could you please send us a screenshot of this playlist so we can get a better understanding? Are you're referring to the Your Episodes playlist?

@Wild2 It's also worth mentioning that there are slight differences on the Desktop app and Mobile app since these are two different platforms and weโ€™re always testing possible improvements on both.

On another note, seems like the Community folks have already gathered on a similar feature request and have created an idea about being able to pin playlist to home screen. If you'd like to see that option available, we'd suggest that you check this idea here. Make sure you leave your vote to support it, so that it would have a better chance of being considered, as Spotify always strives to improve your experience.

You'll also find all the relevant info about our Idea Exchange and how the Community feedback gets implemented here if you'd like to know more about the topic.

Hope this helps. If you need anything else, the Community is here for you.

Thanks so much for the reply - up until a few days ago it was working.
As per attached screenshots, the run time still shows on my song playlist but not on my podcast playlist.

Thanks again.

My Question or Issue

I have had a running playlist for years where I download my new podcast episodes each day and add them to this playlist and sort them how I want. With the last Spotify update, this playlist now reads 0 minutes on my app. On my desktop (Chrome, canโ€™t download the app on my work computer) it says 27 songs, over 24 hours. Currently, this playlist is 11 episodes and about 8 hours long. So neither is correct in different ways. Not a crucial bug, but I do like to see how much I have and if Iโ€™ll get through the list that day. Once I listen to an episode, the download is removed and I delete it from the playlist.
Iโ€™ve tried making a new playlist and adding these episodes to that and it still says 0 minutes.
looks like itโ€™s a podcast-specific glitch because my music playlists all show correct times and I tried adding a podcast to an otherwise all music playlist to see what would happen and the playlist time didnโ€™t change to include that podcast time.

My Question or Issue

I have playlists that I add podcasts to and for about a week they have claimed to have 0 mins of content. This is not an issue on the website, only the iPhone app

I have deleted and reinstalled the app and cleared cache to no avail

It fixed itself for a few days over the weekend. My podcast playlist I made showed the correct total time at the top! Then this morning I went to the New Episodes folder in My Library, and not only where the 3 dots gone (usually next to the share icon, and what youโ€™d click to add the episode to a playlist without having to go into each episode) but my podcast playlist is back to showing 0 minutes.

The same thing happened to me. I noticed it was fixed for a few days but it's now broken again.

Hey @Wild2,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Could you share the Spotify version and the device's brand, model and operating system you're using? We can then relay the info to our tech team.

Keep us posted.

Cheers!

Hi there,

It's still the same as the post I started this thread with. Pixel 6,
Android and spotify (premium) version 8.8.54.481

Thank you!

I am having this issue also. Very annoying and i would appreciate it being fixed. Any word on when that will happen or if anything is being done to correct this issue?

I have the latest version of spotify and my phone is a Note 8

Currently having issues in which my playlists containing both songs and podcast episodes display the incorrect length/duration. I believe the length displayed only accounts for the songs on the playlist, rather than the entire playlist.

Other info:

Device: iPhone14

OS: 16.5.1

App version: 8.8.56.514

Plan: Premium Student

Country: United States

Hey there folks,

Thank you for your patience.

Can you confirm if the duration is appearing for you now?

We'll be on the lookout for your replies.

It was showing again about a week or 2 ago but unfortunately has disappeared again

Thanks!

It was back for a week or 2 but then disappeared again maybe 2 weeks ago
and currently still says zero minutes.
In addition, the three dots arenโ€™t next to any of the podcasts in the โ€œnew
episodesโ€ folder every day so you have to click on each track and then get
the three dots to add it to a playlist.
And no matter how many tracks my podcast playlist actually has, itโ€™s
baseline starts at around 16 tracks. I actually have 10 podcasts in my
playlist right now and when I go to add one from the New Episodes list, it
currently says I have 26 tracks.

Hey there,

Thanks for the replies and the reports.

Could you check that you're using the latest version of the app? At the time of this post this should be: 8.8.72.

Keep us posted.

Cheers!
