Hey everyone,
We've heard back from our tech folks who've confirmed that this is the current expected behavior: on the mobile app, the Play button on the Artist Page will play the artist's most streamed songs in order unless they've been featured in a This is playlist (for example "This is Joey Jordison") - in that case the Play button would play the 5 most popular tracks as normal, but it would continue with the "This is" playlist instead when the 5th most popular song ends.
Another artist whom this can be observed with is BTS: if you were to tap the Play button on their Artist Page in the mobile app, Spotify would play their 5 most popular songs and then continue with the songs from the "This is BTS" playlist.
Looks like there's an idea about changing this behavior here though, so make sure to check it out if it sounds interesting to you and give it a thumbs up to show your support!
Cheers!
Hey @grizzy13,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
In this case you can check if you have activated the Shuffle feature. You can read more about this in this article and how to deactivate it.
On another note, it's possible you have some other playlist or songs in the queue ready to start playing. So, we'd recommend you check if there's something on the queue to play next. If yes, you can clear the queue, you first have to locate it by following the steps in this article. Then you can hit the Clear queue button to see if you notice any difference.
Lastly, if none of the above does the trick, would you mind letting us know the exact make/model and OS of your affected device along with the Spotify version you have running?
Keep us in the loop!
I have the same problem. I did all the things the moderator listed below and nothing worked. Has anyone figured out how to fix this?
Also, the link you provided for "clear queue" only shows how to remove individual songs, not clear the entire queue.
Hi folks,
We gave this another shot and were able to reproduce the described behavior, so we've reported it to our tech folks who'll investigate further. While we're unable to provide an exact timeline for a fix at this moment, rest assured that we'll check back in here as soon as we have any new info to share.
In the meantime, make sure to always keep the app up to date.
The Community is always here if there's anything else you need assistance with.
Take care!

Ok so with that information, I think I know what's happening. Playing Slipknot from their artist page does play the top 5songs but then plays the This is Joey Jordison playlist. NOT the This is Slipknot playlist. Because the Slipknot playlist is 100% Slipknot but the Joey Jordison playlist does include Murderdolls and Sinsaenum. So can it be fixed so it plays the This is Slipknot playlist please?
Replying again because I'm not sure it went to the right person.

Just moved entire family over to spotify.. and can't for life of me find how to play all songs from one artist.
Example
Megan Moroney play or shuffle does about 13 songs before moving onto recommendations from other artists.
Within discography there is just over 20 songs.
How do I play in this example all songs..
On my music unlimited app I simply picked artist... all songs listed. Pressed play or shuffle. Done.
I surely must be doing something wrong
Hi @user-removed,
I checked the artist's profile and they have a "This is" playlist on their artist page, so pressing the big green Play button will queue that playlist instead of the artist's discography (refer to my post above where I explain this in-depth). In order to play their discography:
Hope this clears things up. Cheers!
Hi!
I have the same issue with drakes most played songs atm, when I go down the list of his most popular tracks to what suppose to be his 6th, Spotify starts playing his recommended playlist “OVO SOUND”. I have tried all the listed things above but nothing works 😕
This issue is only on my iPhone though, this does not appear when I play his top songs on other devices like my Mac.
Pleas help me I don’t know what to do in this situation…
