Hi,
after updating to the latest version of spotify, now when I try to access the app crash with a black screen. I've tried reinstalling it several time, formatting the sd in which is installed and even reinstalling the old version (that now says that I've to update to continue using spotify).
HI, what phone and ROM are you using?
Samsung or Moto by any chance?
The phone is a Xiami Mi One S with stock MIUI os.
Can you try uninstaling Spotify again and using a file manager make sure that the below folders are deleted (the second one may be still remaining from the older versin of Spotify):
\Android\data\com.spotify.music
\Android\data\com.spotify.mobile.android.ui
Note: - Make sure to check both Emulated/0/ AND the /ext_sd/ locations for these folders as they could be on Internal memory or/and external SD card.
Once done, go to the play store and install the app again. Let me know how you get on,
Note: Official guides for a clean reinstallation here
Now it opens, but when I click on the access button the "Application not responding" dialogue popups and even if I click wait it continue not working.
So I have to install it in the internal memory?
The app will always install to internal memory... the cache however might sit on the internal memory or the SD card.
Sometimes which the cache is installed on a corrupt or cheap SD card it can fail because of RW speeds, bad partitioning or data blocks etc. So by installing without the SD card present we are telling the SPotify app to install both the app & cache to the Internal memory. Then if it runs OK, we know that the issue lies with your SD card.
No I normally tap on "External Install" so the app is installed directly on the sd, anyhow I've tried to install on the internal memory, but the problem is still the same.
OK, but if you have an external cache it still may be sent to your SD card. Can you uninstall and remove your SD card... then install to internal memory?
Always the same, even with this solution...
I'm afraid these are all the checks I can do. It may need Spotify intervention. As such I recommend you contact Spotify Support using the form here.
You will get an automated reply at first, however if you need to chase them just reply to the email as it does get monitored.
