My Question or Issue

Since yesterday evening I’ve had a weird issue with my Spotify account that I’ve never experienced in the past four years (my account has always been free). Usually if I search up a song and click on it, I can play music on shuffle from the song itself. Now though, anytime I click on a song, it leads me to the album, EP, or single the song is on. This is super annoying and I’m wondering if anyone else has had this issue… my brother’s account is working normally so I’m not sure why only mine is acting different. I’ve also had an issue that started a couple years ago where ads play between EVERY song so that I have to exit the app between each one; this issue has also not affected my brother’s account and he usually plays about 3 songs between each ad. According to Spotify themselves it’s not supposed to play ads between every song, and mine only extremely rarely (every few weeks probably) will play two. So I don’t know why my account isn’t working the way it should or if there’s anything I can do to fix it… for both issues I’ve tried redownloading the app, updating, clearing cache, contacting Spotify, etc. but nothing has fixed either.

Below is just two screenshots of what happens if I search a song and click on it (it leads to the song’s parent album, but it NEVER used to do that).

Hi there,

Thanks for your posts here in the Community!

In case you haven't tried before, we'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. If that doesn't help, could you ask a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your device and check if they can replicate this behavior with their account?

@codeeighteen, are you experiencing both behaviors explained? Or only one of them? Let us know which one.

Additionally, let us know the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

We'll keep an eye out for your replies!
