Spotify not launching

Spotify not launching

I am trying to use Spotify on a Win10 PC, and it seems to be either crashing during launch or failing to launch. i have tried all types of re installing, i have tried it on microsofts app store and the direct download, nothing i do works. i click to launch it and i can see it pop up in task bar for a second before it goes away and nothing happens,

i can use spotify on my phone and my work location with no problem though. i have checked my anti virus [AVG] and tried running and installing without it and no change.

Hi there,

Its a shame that your Spotify isn't working well.

Please read through the whole answer before following my troubleshooting steps.

Have you tried changing the file location where you install Spotify for direct download, as its possible but that part of your drive could be corrupted?

Also, there could be another program on your PC that could be preventing startup. This could be the firewall (I know you've checked your AVG anti virus). If you have a windows machine, make sure the windows defender allows internet traffic to the spotify launcher. You could also uninstall AVG and reset windows defender - this might fix the problem. You could also check the proxy settings if it does load or check that your router or server is not forwarding data to the wrong network port. Search up online about "port forwarding on your router",  "proxy" , "proxy on Spotify" if you think this could be the problem. If you have never touched the settings of your router and you know no-one else has then skip this step.

If your computer has an administrator, their software or their settings for you could be blocking spotify from launching. Contact them and see if that's the problem.

If your problem still hasn't been fixed, then see if Spotify Web Player works as you could use this to get around the problem.

If your problem isn't fixed contact Spotify support and see if they can help you.

Thanks, Cyclingbob.
