“Want You Back” by 5 Seconds of Summer - BRING BACK THE RADIO VERSION!!!

Fellow 5 Seconds of Summer & “clean” music fans,

Just this morning, I noticed that Spotify had completely deleted the clean version of the 5SOS hit single “Want You Back”. After years of being included on the 2018-released NOW That’s What I Call Music, Vol. 66 compilation album, the song was inexplicably removed from the track list, so now no one can stream it on Spotify anymore. Now, the only version of “Want You Back” that you can stream on Spotify (besides the acoustic version and a couple of remixes) is the DIRTY version (with one f-bomb dropped in the first verse - “Is is tears or just the f*ckin’ rain?”) By comparison, on the radio version, the lyric goes, “Is it tears or just the pourin’ rain?”, which makes a WHOLE LOT more sense.

My personal preference has always been to listen to the clean versions of songs if possible, and “Want You Back” has long been a favorite of mine. I’ve streamed it over 500 (yes, you read that right) times on Spotify before its untimely deletion (most of those streams coming in this year - 2024 - alone). If no clean version of a song exists or a previously existing clean version of the song is deleted, the explicit version shows up in “Spotify Wrapped” playlists at the end of the year. I don’t want to have to deal with that.

I tried reaching out to Spotify’s online tech support, and apparently, it was either the NOW curators or 5SOS themselves that had the track deleted.
