Volume on Sonos suddenly increases to maximum

Volume on Sonos suddenly increases to maximum

Hey, I have the issue, that when hearing music over Spotify via Airplay on my Sonos Speakers that out of a sudden the music Volume goes to Maximum. This can be quite stressing (and of course damage my speakers!). If I tried to lower the volume it increases again. I found a german thread in sonos support forums and spoke to sonos support chat as well and they said the Volume increase came directly from the spotify app, so it is not a sonos issue.

Hi there @netswipe,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

We'd recommend running a clean of the Spotify app on your phone, following the exact steps from this Guide. This will assure that you're running the latest version of the app.

Can you also tell us if the Volume is loud only when you connect and start streaming to the speaker or does it happen at random during playback.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂

Hey Alex, i reinstalled the app already. I have read of similar problems with the spotify app on sonos in the past. The problem occurs randomly during playback.

Hey @netswipe,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Just to make sur that we're on the same page- you used the steps for a clean reinstall that Alex posted, right? They are more thorough than a regular reinstall and make sure that no corrupted leftover files remain, that might be causing such issues.

If that's the case and the issue persists, it's a good idea to unlink your Spotify account from the Sonos app, clean reinstall the Sonos app and link the accounts anew. This page contains instructions that might help.

It would be also help us troubleshoot this further if you could log in with a friend or family members account and see if the volume issue comes up there as well.

Keep us posted. We’ll keep an eye out for your reply.

Just wanted to mention that it may not be a Spotify problem.

I have the same situation where the Sonos speaker has raised the

volume in the middle of the night while I’m not listening to Spotify.

Some Sonos folks on their community page may not provide you

with an answer tho, because they are strangely sticking to their

contention that it is definitely NOT a software problem of theirs.
