Spotify is playing songs from previous playlist - Sonos

Spotify is playing songs from previous playlist - Sonos

When playing my Spotify playlists over my Sonos speakers, if I switch to another playlist it will play 1 song from the new playlist, then switch back to the previous playlist. This happens regardless of if I'm using the Spotify app or the Sonos app. I have looked up this topic and the only solution I've found is to clear my music queue, but as a free user I don't have a music queue. I've reinstalled both apps with no resolution.

Hello @1255577841,

Thanks for reaching out via the Community and we appreciate you sharing what troubleshooting steps you've tested already. It helps with the investigation.

Did you notice when this behavior started for the first time and if it was after something specific? Also, does it happen with multiple playlists of yours or only specific ones and only if you're streaming on your speaker?

It'd be very helpful if you could test with connecting another mobile device to your Sonos speaker to see if the same behavior would continue. Maybe you could ask a relative or a friend and you could log in to your account on their device.

You mentioned that you're currently on the free version and we just want to point out that Spotify will suggest tracks and artists for your playlists as you create and edit them. If you have less than 15 songs in your playlist, Spotify will add more songs. Keep also in mind that on free, playlists created by you are played in Shuffle mode.

Lastly, feel free to send us a video showing this behavior so we can take a look at what exactly happens. You can attach it to your next response via the Insert Video option in the post editor, but if the attachment's too big then you can upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us.

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

It started just a few weeks ago, but nothing changed that I am aware of with either my sonos or spotify accounts or set up. This also happens when I use my wife's phone, on my account.

This happens with multiple playlist, many that are hours long and more then 15 songs. It always happens when I start listening to one playlist then switch to another. It will play a song or two from the new playlist, then jump back to a song from the 1st playlist, but act like it is still playing the current playlist. I've even tried this with very different playlists and turned off autoplay and it still does this. The songs couldn't be more different, it's not an issue with shuffle or suggested songs.

Thanks for the response and shared details @1255577841.

To get a better idea of what exactly happens and decide what to suggest next, could you send us a video of how Spotify behaves? You can either attach it to your next response via the Insert Video option in the post editor or if the video's too big, then you can upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us.

Additionally, let us know if you've tested with a different network connection, as well as if the same thing happens on your wife's account when you're streaming to Sonos.

Since you mentioned that this happens both on your and your wife's phones with your Spotify account, there may be an issue with the account itself. It'd be great if you could also send us the make, model and OS version on both devices.

Appreciate the cooperation and hope to hear from you soon 🙂
