Changing country settings?

I got Spotify 3 yrs ago. I believe I regsterred it in Sweden and then I moved to Finland for 2 yrs and now I am back in Sweden. However now my spotify does not work. I have changed my profile back Sweden and yet I can not log on to my spotify. It keeps on giving me the message that my country doe snot match the country set on my profile even though I have changed it!

 

Does anybody know what to do?

So what if you don't have the required credit card info. Im having the same problem but do not have a card to change it with. I want my music back 😞

Well I did put in my credit card information adn it says Sweden under country in my profile and it still says that it does not match the country code.

Now when I think about it I might have registered the account in Finland, and like I said now i moved back to Sweden. Does that make any difference?

I have a similar problem. I have a free account which I in Belgium. I was in Spain for a few weeks, and have now moved back to the US. I updated my location in both countries because Spotify would not allow me to listen and kept placing me in offline mode. I updated my Facebook location through Facebook profile, and through the Spotify account using a credit card. When I tried logging in again to listen to music, it still placed me in offline mode. Then I upgraded my account to unlimited (4.99), and although I have proof of receipt and an email stating that I have paid, Spotify remains in...offline mode. 


What is going on? I might have to go back to iTunes. This is really absurd. 

I started mine out in Spain and moved back to the US. I updated my country on my profile back to the USA and inputed the credit card information. My profile shows that my country is the USA but Spotify still has me in offline mode. What do I need to do so it stops doing this?

King_backlund - The country your card is from will need to match the country you're trying to change your account to. So a Swedish card.

Spudly - You should be able to log in with your Facebook details and get your Unlimited, is this not the case? Have you been using another username?

Thanks for the reply. 

 

Credit card matches country (USA).

 

It took a day for both profiles (Facebook and Spotify) to match each other and finally switch me off of offline. Switching everything as discussed here (profiles, credit card, country, etc) may take longer than a day to update.  Good luck others!

 

 

 

Sam, It's working today. Thanks for the response! The error messages were happening yesterday.

So that means you can't use a card which is from another country than the one you're in?

I'm from Norway and I think I created my account there, but I'm staying in Sweden for some months now, maybe longer, my card is Norwegian. 

 

Got the message that I had to change country in the profile and I tried to change it to Sweden and use my Norwegian card but it doesn't work. Do I really have to get a Swedish card or borrow one? :S

You should be able to retain the Norwegian account in Sweden as long as you have a paid account in Norway. However, are you trying to retain your free account? You might want to ensure that you have a postal code on your account too. This might get it to pop up correctly.

It's a free account. I do have a postal code.

Created my Spotify Account when I was in the Netherlands, but I do live in Austria.
Now it doesn't work anymore and yes, I know that I should fill out the payment stuff, but I can't cause I don't have a credit card.
Isn't there an other way I could change my country to Austria?! This is absurd.

I actually ended up removing and reinstalling Spotify and all of a sudden it started working again. For those of you who still can not make it work, it might be worth a try!

If you don't have a credit card all you need to do is fill out our contact form. Some of you might get an automated response sending you back to the Community. All you need to do is reply to that message again
