Spotify not accepting Credit Card or Paypal

Spotify not accepting Credit Card or Paypal

I am a Irish customer and have tried numerous times to upgrade my account to Premium but Spotify won't accept the Credit Card. It's a Mastercard and is working for any other transactions. I've set up a Paypal account with the card but still refuses to accept. It's like they don't want my money. Can anyone help?

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

 

Can you just double check that your online profile is correctly set to Ireland?

Your payment method and Spotify account need to be registered in the same country for security/licensing reasons. Is your Mastercard registered in Ireland?

 

More information can be found in the payment FAQ. As Spotify was only recently launched in Ireland, it is possible this is a small bug.

I'm having the exact same issue though it has existed for over a year, couldn't be arsed before but since the problem STILL exists I would not know what causes it, also tried to use paypal instead of the card and it would not accept it.

What country you are trying to subscribe from?

Sweden, and spotify in Sweden is not really a new thing now is it?

 

Not exactly sure what's causing it but it's defenetly not the lack of money.

Very strange! What type of card is it?

Using Visa myself and as I mentioned, also tried using my Paypal account without success, it works on everything else apart from Spotify.

Does your card and account meet all of the following requirements?

 

There are some main requirements that your card must fulfil in order to use it to subscribe to Spotify Premium or Spotify Unlimited.

  1. Ensure that your card has not expired. If you have received a new card, update your credit card details on your Subscription page
  2. The country set in your Spotify account profile must match the country where your card is registered. If you intend to use a payment method in another country, you can make this selection on your Subscription page (We can only accept payment from our launch countries).
  3. Your card should be enabled for e-commerce transactions (Verified by Visa/Mastercard SecureCode).
  4. Your card must also be open to be used for foreign purchases.

All 4 requirements are met, I should also mention that the card has been used for spotify during the first subscription month, after that however it would not accept any more payments.

I would suggest you get in touch with customer services using the online contact form as they might be able to provide you with some more information about your payments.

Who's your Spotify Star?

I am having the same problem too, from the USA. I also use MasterCard and it's not taking it either. It's interesting to me because the via and MasterCard logos are right next to each other and there is no little circle to click just for MC - it's next to the visa. But it seems like you select them together. Ideas??

I am pretty sure the system can determine the card type from the card number 😉 

Does your card meet all of the requirements set out here

Experiencing this problem as well with my VISA.  All 4 of the listed requirements are met.

@Unpozibowl - What error message are you getting? Also, is it a pre-paid VISA?

"Payment failed"  Sorry we could not process your order.  No it is not a pre-paid VISA or debit card.

Strange, I would get in touch with the payments guys directly using this form and get them to look into this a little closer for you. 


If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

Im facing same problem, and my requirement for the card all meet the criteria...
Also contacted from mastercard they say maybe the problem is coming from you side..
Please help me..
