[Android Auto] Artist/Song not updating upon start of new song

[Android Auto] Artist/Song not updating upon start of new song

Plan: Premium

Country: USA

Device: Samsung Galaxy 10e

Operating System: Android (phone) / UConnect (car)

My Question or Issue

After about one to two hours of driving while playing music in Android Auto mode, with Spotify on the car screen most of the time, and swapping to Waze on occasion, the Artist, Song Name, and Song Length stop updating on my car screen.  However, the current position time stamp within the song updates correctly.

If I use my car screen to switch to Waze then back to Spotify, the Artist, Song Name, and Song Length get updated to the current song being played.

When the current song ends and Spotify switches songs, again the Artist/Song Name/Song Length do not get updated.

Hey @pasadenadruid,

Thanks for reaching outa bout this in the Community!

Can you let us know if you're running Spotify on your phone or on your car's onboard system, and when did you notice this.

Cheers.

I thought I had mentioned that information in my original post. But just in case I did not -- I have my phone connected to the on-board computer of my vehicle via a USB cable. Android Auto is running on both the car and the phone and it turns on BlueTooth. I am controlling both the Spotify and Waze apps through the car's User Interface (the touch screen). As to where the actual apps are running... I am assuming they are running on my phone and are using some combination of the USB cable and BlueTooth to send the graphics and the audio to the vehicles on-board entertainment system.

Hi there @pasadenadruid,

Thank you for your reply and explanation.

Can you perform a clean reinstall of the app? This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

If that doesn't do the trick and you have an SD card we suggest that you uninstall the app > turn off your phone > take out your SD card > turn on the phone again (without the SD card) > reinstall the app since the card can be corrupted.

Keep us posted.

Cheers!
