App does not start sometimes and stops after a few songs when using headphones

App does not start sometimes and stops after a few songs when using headphones

Dear forum,

I am using Spotify on my Xiaomi Redme Note 3 and I am facing two issues.

Sometimes when I open the app, the screen stays black. After a while a message appears, saying that the app does not react and asking if I want to close it. When this happens, I have to reboot my phone or Spotify won´t work anymore.

The second issue is, when I am using my headphones. Doing so, Spotify stops playing after a few songs. When I unlock the phone, the next song starts immediately, but after 2-3 songs, it stops again.

Any ideas to either of the two issues are very welcome.

Thank you!

Mick

Hey @MickH74,

For your first issue, looks like you may need a clean install, which means deleting everything Spotify has created in your phone:

1. Uninstall the app from phone by going to 'Settings' -> 'Apps' then scroll to the Spotify app and tap on it. Once loaded press 'Uninstall'.
2. Using a file manager make sure that the below folders are deleted if they still exist:

  • /emulated/0/Android/data/com.spotify.music
  • /ext_sd/Android/data/com.spotify.music
  • /sdcard1/Android/data/com.spotify.music
  • /data/media/0/Android/data/com.spotify.music

You will lose all preferences & offline playlists in doing this.

For the second issue, it looks like you may have active a power saving setting in your phone, like the one Samsung uses in their phones. Look for it in your settings, and disable it.

Hope it helps. 🙂

The second issue is gone after changing the energy setting for stoping background apps after a while.

For the first issue: it is not fixed, yet. But today I re-installed my complete phone and we will see if it helps.

However, I found a trick to get around it. Close Spotify. Turn phone in airplane mode. Start Spotify again. Turn off airplane mode. That always worked. Seems like Spotify is looking for something in the internet when starting and there is no timer to stop when the connection is not successful.
