My Question or Issue

I had a Huawei P20 with Android 9 on it. When a Bluetooth headset was connected and play/pause button was pressed, Spotify app started and music played.

Unfortunately, that phone died and bought a Realme 10 with Android 13. I also paired several Bluetooth headphones (Sena 50b, Redmi, and another chinese bluetooth headset) but on none of them I able to launch and play automatically Spotify when play/pause button is pressed.

Things that I tried:

Reinstall Spotify app deleting data previously.

Clears Bluetooth´s app cache

Clears Google´s app cache

Set Spotify as the default music app on Google´s app

Added Spotify app permissions to show notifications

Added/removed permissions to find near devices

Added Spotify app permissions to run in background.

Disable battery optimization for Spotify app

There is any solution available?

Thanks,

Regards.

Hi Joan,

After a bit more research, looks like app Polar Flow IS managing media buttons. I also tried another apps for manager headphone without luck. I unistalled Flow app and headphone start to working much better (able to play with unlocked screen with Spotify app closed). I opened a ticket with Polar because for Huawei phones the app IS another.

Thanks for your input.

Hi there @Drashiel,

Thanks for reaching out.

These types of features are not really related to Spotify itself and are usually determined by the routines and settings set up on the specific device. These differ between manufacturers so that's likely why the devices worked on your old device, but not on the new one. Consider checking these and watching for any routines set up to trigger on device connect or when specific handsfree buttons are pressed. If your device doesn't have these, I believe there are also third party apps that allow you to do that.

Hope this helps.
