Can't Download Local Files Music

Can't Download Local Files Music

I just can't donwload Local Files on my cellphone. I get stuck on this  message "Waiting to download" but the music never gets downloaded and I dont know why. Can anyone help me please?
Obs: There's an image as attachment.

That's not good, we defintely want to get your local files back up and running on your cellphone! It sounds to me likeyour computer and phone just aren't talking, so let's go through a few steps first to make sure things are configured correctly.

 

I would take a look at the support topic here on syncing local files to your mobile device, just to ensure things are setup right: https://support.spotify.com/article/Listen-to-local-files/

If you have any questions regarding the steps required to sync local files, please reply back with them and we'll do our best to answer you.

 

You'll also want to ensure the computer you're trying to sync local files from is on the same WiFi network as your phone, and that your security software and/or firewall isn't blocking communication.

Another point to note is that sometimes if a track is stored locally & is also available to stream then when you sync to your device it will automatically use the Spotify streaming version but the data from your playlist. If for some reason the metadata such as track length differs this can cause conflict and break the track. In this instance you are best off removing the local file from your playlist on the desktop and adding the track from the Spotify server then re-sync. This should fix this issue.

 

Let us know if this resolves your syncing issues, or if you're still having trouble after trying the steps outlined in the support document.

Any problems are normally down to communication issues so here's a list of things to check if local files won't download.

  • Your PC and mobile must be connected to the same Network/SSID and spotify should be running on your PC.
  • In your router settings, check that UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is enabled.
  • Make sure that Windows shows your network as private and not public.
  • Set exceptions for spotify in any firewall or internet security programme. If you are unsure how to do this, temporarily disable them.
  • Check that you haven't already hit the limit of 3,333 downloads per device or 9,999 downloads across all devices.
  • If you are using a wifi network outside of your home, there is every chance that the protocols used by spotify for downloading are blocked.

If you still can't make it work, you can create a mobile hotspot on your mobile and connect your PC to this hotspot via wifi. Syncing the local files should then work.

Kirashi I didn't understand some of your resolutions, can you please do a step by step explanation??

Joe, I tried almost everything you said, except for the router settings, which I don't know where it is.

Apologies @Kiryoth. I'll try to explain.

For local file synconization, if you happen to have a song tagged on your computer that is also in the Spotify library, but certain information differs, sometimes it can mess up the sync and playback process.

 

For example, you have a local song called "Cool Song Title" by Awesome Band XYZ with a track length of 4:21.

Spotify also has "Cool Song Title" by Awesome Band XYZ in the Spotify library, but its' track length is 3:53.

This might be because your local version of the song is actually the extended edition or live version, but isn't tagged as such, so Spotify thinks it's the regular edition.

 

Ultimately, this can cause playback or sync issues because of the differing track lengths. I've experienced this myself with certain Pink Floyd and The Who tracks, because there are multiple version of the same track in my local song library.

 

The best way to resolve this issue is to remove the Local File from your local song library and add Spotify's version of the song to the playlist you'd like to sync to your phone.
