I have a free plan, and I was adding some songs to my favorites playlist, but all of a sudden it just didn't let me add anymore. I thought it reached a maximum number or something but I'd didn't let me dislike songs either. Anyone have answers?
Hey there @Ooweecomics,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the community!
Do you see an error message when this occurs? If so, it'd be very helpful if you could post a screenshot so we can troubleshoot this further.
However, if the buttons appear unresponsive, we'd recommend giving it a try and reinstalling the app by following these steps.
Let us know how you get on 🙂
How many times do you expect us to have to reinstall the app just to like a song? This is still not fixed. Reinstalling the app is not an acceptable solution in any sense. What is going on here? When do you expect have this issue resolved? Like a date and not another excuse or canned answer.
I have about 900 liked songs. About every 2 weeks time I need to reinstall the app so that I can like songs. After 2 weeks the like button becomes unresponsive. Idk why and it's really frustrating to reinstall the app again and again. I lose all my downloads. Why can't you find the solution in the app rather than reinstalling it. The issue is only with Spotify. Spotify lite works fine but the liked songs don't sync. Pls find a better solution where we don't need to reinstall the app
Hey there @Sh0re,
Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!
Can you give us a bit more info about the devices you're using:
Since this isn't something reported by multiple users, we'd need to go through some troubleshooting to find out what's causing this 🙂
Cheers.
Hey @Sh0re,
Thanks for the detailed reply.
It sounds like there might be an app or automated process, which is automatically deleting the Spotify cache on a daily/ weekly basis. More info about how Samsung phones do this - here.
Try disabling those processes for Spotify and make sure that the app cache is not automatically cleared.
This is because all Spotify settings, songs and downloads are stored as cache.
Let us know how if goes.
Hey @Sh0re,
Thanks for trying and keeping us posted.
This seems to be associated with the device itself. To check this, could you try using the app on a different device to see if this behavior also occurs there?
We'll be looking out for your reply.
Hey there @Sh0re,
Thanks for the reply.
Glad to hear that the Like function works after clearing the app data. After a clean reinstall all app data and cache is wiped. Spotify stores user settings and downloaded content as cache, which is also deleted. This is why you need to readjust your preferences and redownload your songs that after the reinstall. Nevertheless, on some phones corrupted cache can cause issues like the Like button not working.
Regarding the deletion of the downloads, as we've said in a previous post, there is most likely an cache clearing app which is automatically wiping your Spotify app cache from the internal storage. Check your Scheduling, cleaning and performance boosting apps to see exactly what might be clearing the app cache daily.
Hope you find this info helpful.
Hey @Sh0re,
Thanks for your rapid response 🙂
Keep us posted if the proposed solutions have done the trick for you.
It's possible that a cache clearing app/anti-virus is getting rid of the cached info on your internal storage, which removes your downloads.
This is why Alex recommended making sure you are not using any cache-clearing/optimizing apps on your device, as they usually are causing such issues with the Spotify app. In case you want to use such apps, then make sure you include Spotify in their exceptions list.
Hope this clears things up. If you have any more questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.
Like button unresponsive for me too.
App version 8.7.54.403
Samsung A12 SM-A125F/DS
Android V11
Hi there @NiallDarwin
Thanks for reaching out about that here.
We'd recommend running a clean reinstall of the app. Please follow the steps from this Spotify Guide exactly, as this will assure that all app data is cleared completely, before reinstalling.
Also, make sure that Battery optimization is not enabled for Spotify from the system app settings, as well as that the app is granted all permissions. These settings could be hindering the performance of the app.
Keep us posted on how you get on with this.
Cheers.
I cant like or dislike the songs, what is happening? This is pretty frustrating.
