I've been logged out of my Spotify on my android phone, and when I login it says I am offline and that I need to go online to login. But I can login on the internet, and there isn't an option to go online. How can I go online if I can't login!
Hi. What version of Spotify are you using?
Spotify
Version 8.4.24.837
com.spotify.music
This is just stupid… Having just experienced this myself, and having searched online, I've come to realize it's an ongoing issue with Spotify. Doing a 'quick' reinstall of the app — which includes having to redownload several GBs of music each darn time — is absolutely unacceptable.
Having offline mode enabled within the app should in no way whatsoever prevent a user from logging-in. Once logged-in though, it would obviously function as the user rightfully expects by only playing already downloaded music.
The only reason I'd switched to Spotify is that I was prompted to by Microsoft Groove. However, I'll be damned if I'm going to continuously reinstall the app and/or redownload the same music over and over again due to a long-standing bug that you seemingly won't fix.
Quite simply, the next time that this should happen, I'll immediately cancel my Spotify subscription and move to Google Play… Problem solved.
8.4.24.837 appears to be a beta version?
@all,
PLEASE go here and vote this issue up.
ARGH. My issue was "CLOSED" as a duplicate, but my closed issue still allows people to vote it up. Apparently, we should focus our collective power on this issue report instead:

The comments are closed on this "official" issue report. It has a status of "Not right now" as well as a "work-around" that unfortunately does not work. If we create a new issue report, it ends up closed as duplicate.
At this point I don't know what to do to get the right eyes on this critical issue. My concern is that the Spotify project managers and developers will simply see a "Not right now" issue that appears to have a work-around and thus continue to basically ignore this problem.
People are actually cancelling their subscription over this issue--an issue that is a technical bug. It is something that should be relatively easy to troubleshoot and resolve. I am a software developer, so I don't say that carelessly.
Please, everyone who cares about this, go to this issue and vote it up.

I'm amazed at how bad community support has become. It might be worth sending a PM to the community manager, Meredith asking how to get this bug back as a live issue in ongoing issues.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
