My Question or Issue

When my Pixel is on the lock screen (this is the black screen with just the clock and date) all I can see is a Spotify icon and cannot see what is playing.  If I unlock I have Spotify in the notifications bar and have the controls.

I have followed the other steps listed on the forum and have given Spotify access and allow for sensitive information to be displayed.  Not sure if this is how it should work but would love to know what is playing without having to alway touch my phone.

Not without rooting the phone and istalling something like "Ambient Lock Screen Music" apparently. Maybe Google will make it possible in future. This applies to all music players, including Google's.

The always on display (AOD) can only show limited information. Check what's possible in your android settings (search for "always on display"). On my S8, double tapping the spotify notification on my AOD shows the transport controls.

Thanks....The Pixel allows you to have Always on but not select what should be shown.  I have this turned on.

Well, now I'm confused. You started off talking about the lock screen but then described the AOD. Maybe you could clarify? A screen capture would help.

I mentioned it because you recommended I check it and this was in reponse to your reply.  Not able to screen shot the lock screen.

In your first post you said "When my Pixel is on the lock screen (this is the black screen with just the clock and date)" which describes the AOD, not the lock screen. So once again, I ask whether your issue is with the AOD (you can't screen cap this) or the lock screen which appears when you turn on your mobile and shows your home screen and a notification shade at the top.

If you are asking about the AOD, functionality is controlled by android OS and only Google can change the way it works. Did you try doble-tapping the spotify notification on the AOD to see if it did anything?

Then I am talking about the AOD.

Here is what I am hoping for: I am playing music on my phone and set it
down beside me on my desk. At any point I want to be able to look at it
and see what is playing without having to touch it. I have security on to
automatically lock after 30 minutes of sleep. I have Sleep after 10
minutes of inactivity. Is that possible?
