Cannot use SDCARD on Android 11

Solved!

Cannot use SDCARD on Android 11

Operating System

Android 11

My Question or Issue

I cannot use SDCARD.

App doesn't ask me for permissions when I try to transfer data to SDCARD via Storage option in App settings.

If i manually grant the permissions to 'Allow access to media only' via Android's App permissions configuration, App will start using the SDCARD as it can be seen in Storage option in App settings. Issue is that I have empty Liked Songs as a result, so I don't believe that I've granted enough permissions for it to write anything to the SDCARD. Currently using information in Storage option remains 0 GB.

The only way to go back to original configuration is to Deny the permissions to SDCARD, eject it via Android settings, clear cache in the App, Remove all downloads in the App, reinstall the App, mount the SDCARD back, then the App will at least use Internal storage again and my Liked songs are not empty.

I've seen different threads when users had empty Liked songs too, but they didn't help.

Hello,

The issue was fixed by installing the latest version of LineageOS.

I think that issue was due to LineageOS itself.

Current state:

Phone model: ASUS_X01BDA

Spotify version: 8.7.62.398

Android: 11

Build number: "lineage_X01BD-userdebug 11 RQ3A.211001.001748c60e38b"

Hey @jieuieui5345,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

To keep investigating your case, could you include in your next response the make and model of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running?

Also, would you mind checking it on a different device to see if it makes any difference?

Lastly, to be on the same page, could you tell us the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far? This is to avoid repeating processes.

We'll be on the lookout.

I don't have any other device, but I remember that older version of Android worked fine. I don't remember the specifics.

Hey @jieuieui5345,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info sent.

As there's no other device to test it on, could you record a short video where we can take a better look at the issue you're having? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

With this, we can take a better look at the issue and try to replicate it on our end.

We'll be waiting for your response.
