Casting from spotify and play to a bluetooth device simultaneously.

Hello. Why is it not possible to cast from spotify to chromecast and play to a Bluetooth device simultaneously . It was possible before with spotycast , but that app does not work anymore.Someone who has the solution?  I use a Samsung s5 galaxy phone.

Hi @bjornerik,

That's a good question, I think some insight into how chromecast works should help answer it.

Don't forget that the chromecast is a media streaming device. Your phone acts as the controller and tells the chromecast where to go in order to get the media to display. No media is is played on the controlling device, this puts less strain on your internal network and means you get the best possible experience as the chromecast is going directly to the server to get the film/song you want played.

For obvious reasons this is the method all streaming services use for casting.

What Spoticast was doing was different. The chromecast does allow for local content to be streamed to it using your LAN (photos or home movies on your phone for example), this is what Spoticast was manipulating to put spotify tracks into a chromecast. Using this method means that it hooked into whatever was currently playing on your device and sending this to the chromecast as a 'second screen'.

This method is not ideal as it is fully dependant on your device and home network being able to cope with the extra traffic and processes being run and can lead to poor performance and some stutter/lag.

Because the first scenario does not use your device as a pass through, your device has nothing to send to a connected Bluetooth speaker. This is why the official app cannot do what you are asking, but Spoticast could.

Is there an app like spoticast that lets you cast to chromcast and play to a bluetooth device simultaneously from spotify available  ?
