Completely inappropriate suggested songs!

Completely inappropriate suggested songs!

My 9 year old daughter was using this spotify account. She was making a Halloween playlist and went to try and listen to it when instead it started a "suggested song" entitled "**bleep** her Right in the **bleep**". Like seriously how can you let a song like this even end up in a suggested list. I am totally disgusted that you could let this happen and want to know how to prevent it from happening again.

Hello! If you have a free Spotify account, create a playlist with 12+ songs in it and you should be able to listen to those songs on shuffle mode (without the suggested songs). Unfortunately on-demand playback is a premium feature.

First off from what I've been reading this is totally BS. I have been browsing and trolling through a ton of posts all over the internet and people with large playlists still say they have this issue. For example from this very forum:

Today, I made a playlist with about 30 songs on it. When I pressed shuffle play, I got a suggested song, skipped it, and got another one. This went on until I'd used up all the free skips for the hour, then I decided I would wait till they stop. Now I'm on 16 suggested songs (and counting!) in a row. I would rather listen to occasional 30 second ads than 3-4 minute songs from artists that have nothing to do with what I am trying to listen to and I have never heard of. For example a few days ago I got: a lullaby, Der Dudelmoser by Dschinghis Khan, and Desert Song by Takako Minekawa (very random mix of songs!) in the suggested songs. I wouldn't mind suggested songs if they weren't as often and actually had something to do with what you are listening to."
Second of all I don't care if you play suggested songs or not. The fact that you've completely disregarded the inappropriateness of this songs ability to pop up on anyone's playlist shows how little you care for your customers concerns. Once again here is a comment about this same issue that no one at your company cared about enough to reply.

I understand having to go through hoops because a free user; I wouldn't even mind the suggested songs as much if they at least made sense somehow. But listening to an instrumental kid's soundtrack then getting CeeLo's "F*ck You?" Or hip hop station ads with uncensored profanity? Glad I didn't have children around. At least stop forcing me to hear profanity if I don't want to. But also, the suggested songs thing is getting ridiculous."
If your so called suggested songs actually made viable suggestions there would be no issue here. Instead my 9 year old was freaking out, almost in tears, thinking she had done something wrong and your company doesn't seem to care less. Basically just buy our full version you say and it won't happen anymore. But why would I give money to people who don't care enough to listen to their customers concerns in the first place. If you were truly concerned about customers you would have some sort of dedicated customer service reps who actually listen and try to help people. You guys have no phone number, no email, can't post on your facebook page. You guys seriously need to get your sh!t together.

Listening to Kids Bop Spotify channel with my 6 year old daughter and a song comes on talking about juicy **bleep**?!!

Spotify I am sure this music had a parentel advisory label on it how does your system allow that type of music on a channel called kids bop?

I’m just as frustrated with this. Listening to kids worship music with my 18 MONTH OLD and suddenly Kesha songs?!?! Macklemore songs?! This is sooooooo frustrating as this is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what we are trying to listen to. I was contemplating purchasing Spotify, but this has completely turned me off. We won’t even be using the free version anymore. Boo Spotify.

I have just had frustrating webchat with Spotify team where the excuse of "we don't censor music" was used as a blanket excuse to answer my questions of how to filter out explicit tagged songs and how to remove wholly inappropriate suggestion sections that have appeared on my home page. Love, **bleep** and Podcasts section has appeared so I now cannot let my two young hildren even search spotify under my supervision without seeing that section, which contains podcasts with **bleep** and **bleep** in the title!!! Amd you cannot choose to remove that suggested section - no user choice.

From my initial conversation with Spotify they do not appear to be doing anything proactive to help keep children safe online in these areas. They suggested i get votes on new idea.... so they will only do something if they have to.

To the community - please let me know if this is well discussed topic with any immediate solutions or else with stop paying and using Spotify. Thanks.

I have kidsbop channel on both Spotify and Pandora and do not have songs about juicy **bleep** on Pandora ... I stopped using Spotify for my kids music. It is sad that Spotify has no interest in blocking albums that are tagged with explicit lyrics from stations like kidsbop... Padora seems to have figured it out.

Great. Many thanks for the heads up.
I will check out Pandora.

Any online company that is not proactively sorting out online safety and waiting until there is too much noise before dealing with it will see people walk.
