Controlling Macbook that is on WiFi with phone not on data

Controlling Macbook that is on WiFi with phone not on data

Hi all,

I have an unusual situation where my Spotify Android app notifies me when my Macbook is on my WiFi network and is playing music. I can control what is playing on the Mac.

What I'd to know is what quantity of mobile data does this consume? I'm guessing it is not much but wanted to make sure it is not playing the music through my phone at all.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have the specific data usage, but I can tell you that you're right that it doesn't use much data to sync to the computer, and you're also correct that it's not actually playing the music through the phone unless you tell it to switch to playing from that device. The Connect feature also only takes effect when you have Spotify open on both devices. It shouldn't be constantly syncing if you don't actually have your app open on the phone.
