I listen to different playlists at home ("gaming"), work ("background" - full of volcalless tracks) and on my mobile ("driving" - a small playlist I don't have to skip or mess around with while driving). Recently, when I get to work, the currently playing selection on my work desktop has been changed to what I was listening to on my mobile on the drive in.
I don't want this to happen (beyond mobile data usage - as my mobile isn't on the work wifi network - I don't want to have to remember to change playlists or lose my current position in my desktop playlist all the time).
I want this change to be permanent (ie. not have to re-enable an option every 30 days or whatever).
I still want my mobile to sync playlists and music (I have numerous "local" tracks not available on Spotify) with my home desktop client automatically (I prefer the desktop client for managing playlists and often update my "driving" playlist over the weekend or whatever) over wifi.
Not sure if this is directly related to the Spotify Connect feature that appears to be introduced. Whatever this feature change is, I basically want to go back to the old way where each client had its own currently playing queue and never sync'd the queue with any other client.
Hi there,
Welcome at the Spotify Community!
I assume this indeed has something to do with Spotify Connect. However, I can't promise you anything about when you might disable the new Connect features.
You may share your kudos/comments at the idea below, to support others (and yourself) with the option to disable this Connect feature(s).

I share AllenJB's sentiment exactly. It has just recently started doing this (for me anyway), and it's really annoying as it interrupts a long playlist of instrumental music I am shuffling through at work to play some heavier vocal rock music when I come into work in the morning and press play. Or maybe I was in the middle of a long track, then I come back and it's on a different song.
There should be an option to choose which devices sync play queues, or at the very least the option to turn off queue syncing between devices entirely.
I love the product, but it's a shame when new "features" unexpectedly change the way I am able to listen to music, and negatively impact my experience. Please fix this!
Instead I suggest a Device-Specific Queue list. Also the ability to mass-delete songs from Queue on Mobile would be great!
Same here, I listen to different music at gym, walk and in the office.
This is frustrating as each time I put headphones at work and play song, I get high powered gym noise! Each day I HAVE TO navigate through Spotify to find type of music that helps me focus again and blood again, but at that time I’m already getting annoyed.
The idea of disabling annoying features is not in your pipeline, I see it this more as a bug that needs fixing for Spotify to remain as a frustration free service I pay for.
The forced syncing of what one is listening to on one device to another device is so annoying that I just had to add another comment here. So ridiculous that Spotify STILL doesn't provide an option to turn syncing on and off.
Ok, somewhat related, i have the opposite experience. I am new to spotify, trying out prime, and i am trying to sync the playlists i have created in my cell (Android) to my desktop account. Am i missing a setting here? Should it to it automatically?
I totally agree. This sync feature is so annoying. Make an option to disable it please!!!!
