Double press to skip song is not working with USB Type-C Headsets

My Question or Issue

When headset play/pause button is pressed twice the current song has to be skipped but instead it just pauses and plays songs again.

The double press to skip song works with other players like Google Play Music.

But it is not working in Spotify. This is a basic but very useful feature and is hampering the overall user experience.
