Fast-forward podcast until end starts next one part-way through or skips it

Fast-forward podcast until end starts next one part-way through or skips it

I often fast-forward (via the skip ahead 15 seconds button) through podcasts (ads, redundant intro, etc). I've noticed that more often than not, if I'm doing this until podcast ends, the next podcast starts at the end time of the previous podcast. IE say podcast B is queued after podcast A. Podcast A is 10 minutes long and podcast B is longer than 10 minutes. If I'm 9:52 into podcast A and skip ahead 15 seconds, podcast B will start around the 10:07 mark, instead of from the beginning. In cases where the length of podcast B is shorter than podcast A, it will be skipped completely (marked as played). This happens most frequently when skipping ahead multiple times in a row (>1 minute skipped)

Hey there @olgobogo,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We couldn't replicate the behavior you kindly described. In that sense, we'd suggest you perform a clean reinstall of the app on the affected device. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the cache is not leading to podcasts skipping. You can find out the steps to do it here.

If the above doesn't do the trick, then it'd be very helpful if you sent us the following:

  • The make/model and OS of the affected device.
  • The exact Spotify version you're running there.
  • Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event, such as a OS update?
  • A video recording of what's happening on your side. You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

Keep us in the loop!
