Hi,
yesterday, a new version (8.4.38.621) was installed automatically on my Sony Xperia X Compact. Now, Ford Sync does not connect to Spotify anymore. The App cannot be found. A reboot of the phone and reset of the Ford Sync software did not help. Bluetooth audio is still working. Is there a known bug with the new version? What can I do to get Spotify connected again with Sync?
Cheers
Torben
I have the same issue.
Auto updated and now I cannot find the app. Normally rebooting the phone will fix it but doesn't appear to work.
Have a look at the following link
https://support.spotify.com/is/listen_everywhere/in_the_car/ford/
Looks like Bluetooth audio is the only option
It does seem that Spotify has discontinued support, I've rolled back to 8.36 and will see if I have fixed the problem. Hopefully enough of us can rally to get support again, they should have discontinued new updates but the old version was fine and it's a shame they've deleted all support.
So, all Spotify have done is turned off the feature allowing it to connect to SYNC. I hope one of Spotifys dev team reads this and reenables the compatibility with SYNC as it is only a few lines of code.
I found a work around anyway for the time being. Go to https://www.apkmirror.com/uploads/?q=spotify-ltd
And download 8.4.36.321 as this is the last solid download that was not a beta. It will be able to play Spotify (I haven't tested the betas so they may work).
Please fix this Spotify. The Ford fiesta is the most popular compact in the UK and this feature is fantastic. Please reenable the compatibility even if you don't plan to support it anymore
Yes, seems like they've discontinued the support... Tried with BT-Audio, that **bleep**... Tried Android Car, that **bleep**, too... I think I will roll back and test it with the old version, too.
One or two years ago I had the same issues, rolled back, and installed the new version some months later. It seemed to be a bug that time - or the first try to kick the function.
I've had the same problem spoke to spotify answer below.........
"I'm really sorry for any inconvenience you may have experienced, Peter. Upon checking, I've found that Spotify integration with Ford SYNC has already been discontinued on January 16, 2018.
Don't worry! You can still listen to Spotify in you car through a range of different supported connection types. For more information, please check out Spotify in the car."
Can anyone get the other ways to connect to work????
Cool I'll give it a try
Hi,
it's working with version 8.4.36.321 installed via apk. I had to uninstall the app to reinstall the older version (music has to be downloaded again). Don't forget to disable the auto update function in the App Store.
The same thing happened in my fiesta but that was down to the delayed app update in the car. Same thing now happened in my ecosport so have now rolled back to a previous version as mentioned on here. I don't understand their reasoning for discontinuing the fordlink as the functionality of spotify is much better with this. Since I have rolled back to older version when I select an artist to shuffle play and repeat it does not work as it starts playing artists I have never heard of. Spotify sort this out.
It's highly unlikely that Spotify will support anything but the current app version or support the discontinued Ford Sync.
just noticed this morning that it wasnt working, what bull**bleep**.
i just rolled back to 8.4.36 and its working again.
hope they bring it back.
First they took away folder play, now this. What's next? Crossfade? When they take that away I'm switching to Pandora.
Does anyone know if Deezer will work with Sync? Am wondering about switching to that seeing as Spotify doesnt work now......
After doing a bit of searching on the Internet I don't think it does but I may be wrong!
Which button? This is pathetic from Spotify they're absolutely f....
I also installed the old version... 😞
I am using BT Audio through the Aux button for playback. It works quite well but obviously doesn't let you select playlists etc. It also doesn't show track length information. At least i can set a playlist off and it will play.
This is a disappointing update. Moving to bluetooth input means you have to use your phone to choose a playlist. This is a safety issue that can be avoided by allowing us to use the app via voice commands.
Can you allow this feature to be turned back on via the settings???
Paying good money for family premium plan. This feature is a major reason you are getting my money over Sirius!
I just upgraded my phone on Thursday and thought it was a phone issue, then I remembered Spotify stopped communicating with my 2015 Mustang early last week on my old phone. That must've been when the app auto-updated (I thought I disabled that feature for that very reason). I thought it was something I did. I'm actually a bit livid considering that's why I have Spotify because it Synced up to my car.
