Galaxy S8 One UI update stops music when switching apps/screen off/leaving app

Since the new update of the Galaxy S8 Pie One UI, spotify pauses music whenever I leave the app, turn off the screen, or switch apps. I have tried:

• deleting, clearing cache and data, restarting and reinstalling
• removing all spotify files from within android files to clear anything related to spotify, and then reinstalling
• Changed battery optimization settings to remove Spotify from the checking list
• Allowing background activity for the app
• Allowing 'never put app to sleep'

All of these options have been tried atleast 3 times.

Any other fixes from anyone having similar issues?
