I can't download podcast episodes unless they're in a custom playlist

I'm trying to download some episodes of the Mythology podcast to listen to while flying for a trip, but the Download button in the app never actually initiates a download of the episode. It only says it's added to My Episodes, and then I can't access that episode while offline. The only workaround I've found is adding the episodes to a custom playlist and then downloading the playlist. Is this intentional, and if so, why is there a download button at all?

Just kidding, I can't even download the custom playlist. It just gets stuck at 0% and never actually downloads anything.

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Could you try leaving your phone active (not letting it lock itself and turn the display off) while the download is ongoing? Does the progress bar start moving after a few moments?

Is this the case only on one device or it is observable on multiple devices? Were you able to reproduce the issue with different accounts and different network connections? Talking about network connections, could you turn off the VPN, if you are using one, or make sure Spotify is set as an exception in your firewall settings? A router reset can also be helpful.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, could you share some device setup information like brand/model and operating system?
