Inbox (Android) vs Messages (Windows) problem/question

Inbox (Android) vs Messages (Windows) problem/question

Hey all,

I'm having a bit of a confusing time with the whole inbox/messages thing so I'm hoping someone can explain! Today I was at my parents (who both have their own accounts). We were discussing some music and I was on my Android phone and said I'd share a track.

I go to [Share/Send to.../Select Recipient] and then put something under To: with a small message to go with it, then send.

So it says it's been sent.

I look on my parents android device to see the inbox is empty. Just to check, I look at the messages section on the windows app and that is also empty!

Basically, the only messaging bit that works is Windows->Windows.

What doesn't work is :

Windows->Android

Android->Windows

Android->Android.

That said, this is bloody confusing! 🙂 Shouldn't the terminology be unified on all platforms? Why inbox on one and messages on the other? I know you can't deal with messages on Android, but still.

Anyway, any idea why the inbox thing just doesn't work for me, or either of my parents? Thanks 🙂

Getting roughly the same symptoms.

Since the last update 2-3 weeks ago, I no longer get anything sent to me by my 3 friends that usually send me music. They all 3 have Android phones. I've had all 3 try sending me songs. I receive nothing.

On the flip side, I can recieve music no problem if someone sends me music from their PC.

Incidentally, I have checked logged into my Desktop, my laptop and my own Android phone. I egt nothing sent from an Android phone, but will get things sent from a PC.

None of us typically use our PCs/Laptops for listening to music. We all use our phones. Not being able to share music using our phones is going to VERY rapidly become a deal-breaker for the 4 of us.

I think that it is just a carry over button from PC app. That said, I understand it is frustrating, but why don't you start an idea and have people kudo it. Or, (actually first) search for an existing idea and kudo and comment on it. Get your friends to kudo it too.
Keep the party going! Please accept solutions if they helped with your question! I am not an official spotify representative, just another user trying to help out. 🙂

Thanks, I understand it's a carry over. However, when I share a file via android you don't get the notification on the other android device. Is that correct? If so, what is the purpose of share to a contact on Spotify when nothing appears?

Well the inbox icon is completely gone in my spotify android app. It is still on the desktop app but it has been emptied! anyone else with this problem?
