Just stops playing and hangs

Just stops playing and hangs

So I'm playing a downloaded playlist. That's what I use Spotify for.

Gets a minute into the song, just stops playing and goes into and endless whirl.

Refuses to play. Sits there having a whirl doing what your stupid app wants to do rather than what I have asked it to do, which is play a downloaded playlist.

I force stop it and start it again but it stops again in this song.

I am not going to clear my entire cache. That will take ages to redownload this playlist.

There is no reason why it should hang.

There is no reason why an app should do anything other than what the user has asked.

Hey @EarlPurple!

Welcome to the Spotify Community.

We can see where you're coming from. Can you give us some more information about this issue? Let us know:

  • Does this happen when you reproduce any of your playlists?
  • Can you let us know if this started happening after a specific update or event?
  • Can you let us know what device/operating system and Spotify version you're currently using?
We'll see what we can suggest.

“The music is not in the notes, but in the silence in between.” – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

1. I use my android phone to play downloaded playlists most of the time. That is why I got Spotify Premium in the first place.

2. I was playing one of my downloaded playlists and in the same point on the same song it just stopped playing and became non-responsive.

3. I eventually had to flush and reload the entire cache when really I would have liked to force a reload of one file. But you don't give us that option. And the files have weird names and they don't even contain the spotify id for the track which would make it easy to find. But the spotify id's are comprised of alpha-numeric characters with lower-case, upper-case and numbers whereas the ids of these were hexadecimal numbers only (0-9a-f).

The file that caused the issue at the time was "Paying My Way" by Dropkick Murphys on the week it had moved from the CurrentWeekly playlist (my playlist of new songs) to NMTop100 (my chart, having entered my chart at #11).

After reloading the entire cache it worked. That song is still on NMTop100 playlist (it is #2 in the chart).
