Hey folks!

We've made some changes backstage and this should now be working correctly.
Could you make sure your app is up to date & let us know if the issue persists?
Thanks a lot!

My Question or Issue

I have a lot of playlists.

Some of these playlists are in folders.

When I try to quickly find a playlist by name via Search from the Library screen, only playlists located outside of a folder are displayed.

I have only noticed this happening recently, so believe it is a new bug from a recent update.

Hey there, thanks for asking in the community!

I can confirm that on my end this issue is not there. Can you confirm if you have updated your Spotify App? You can check it from the top left corner (3 dots), then help, and then about.

If the App is updated, please check after logging out and logging in once again.

Hope that helps, let us know if you need anything else.

Same thing for month now! Unacceptable.

iPhone App is fonctioning normally, so it's a problem with the android app ..

Thanks for your reply. I was already wondering if it was my memory failing, as I was covinced it worked fine before!

So according to you too, it did.

Should be easy to fix for the builders...

Hey there,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

In order for us to better understand what exactly is going on, could you post some screenshots of your experience with the search bar and playlists in folders?

The main question is if you are able to find a particular playlist while outside of a folder versus when it is in the folder. Screenshots showing this difference will help us a lot.

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

Yes, playlist outside folder are showing up, but not the one inside folder. Again, iPhone App has not the problem. Just the android app. Fix this, it's unacceptable after 1 month .

Hi Dian, thanks for your reply.

As Remiorange already replied, when I go to my library (in Android app) and hit the magnifier glass, then enter a keyword from wihin the name of the playlist I am looking for, the app only finds playlist that are no longer IN A FOLDER. It is clearly only searching in the root of my library and ignores folders. This used to be different, as it always found my playlists everywhere. It makes my whole organisation of playlists obsolete, as I used to concentrate composer playlists IN FOLDERS THAT INDICATE THE ERA THEY WORKED IN.

For example in screenshot Screenshot_2022-07-24_185000.jpg, you see a folder named "06-Composer_PostModernist..." that contains a playlist called:  "1928>, Messiaen, Olivier". This playlist recently can no longer be found with the search option. Wheras the playlist that you see in the screenshot called "Aaa KeepOrNot" can be found by the serch engine.

I hope you will be able to restore the old behavour!

Thanks, Ton Klein

Hey folks,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

In order to keep investigating this case, and if possible; it would also be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the issue persists. This will help us understand if it could be account-related or not.

Also, include in your next response the make, model and OS version of your device (in case you haven't done it yet), along with the Spotify version you're currently running.

We'll be on the lookout.

No, it's not an account related issue, since the search function work well in iOS, but not in android.

Last android update didn't fix it, it's completely unacceptable.

Hey there,

Thanks for the troubleshooting steps tried and the shared info.

We've relayed the information to our tech team for further investigation.

As we're unable to share a specific timeframe of a potential fix, we advise you to keep your app up to date so you don't miss out on new feature implementations.

Hope this helps,

Cheers!

Thank you Dion.

Thank god that someone posted about this.. I tried posting in this forum a month ago but the message got lost.

Do we have any status on this? I tried reinstalling my Spotify application and I still have the same problem.. It's really annoying. To the point where I don't enjoy using the app anymore.

I’m having the same issue, since at least one month. I tried logging out and logging in but it didn’t work. I have the latest version. This isn’t an issue on my ipad, only on my android phone.

Hey @Harr3n,

Thanks for your reply in this thread.

Our tech team is currently investigating this. It'd be really helpful if you share with us the make/model and OS of your device along with the Spotify version you have installed. We'll pass this info on to them.

If possible, you can also send us a video recording of what's happening on your side. You can attach the videos in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload them to YouTube or Google drive and make them public, so we can visualize them.

On another note, we’d suggest subscribing to this thread to get notified as soon as we have any updates to share.

We'll be on the lookout!

This problem has existed since like June. I've reinstalled the app and still have the same issue. I've included a URL to the video you asked for. (Please increase file size if you want this sort of feedback in the future)

Same here with the latest version, it's been a couple of months like this. I had to downgrade to a version from January to get it fixed

Issue of library search finding playlists (and playlist folders - I checked in case this helps) successfully only at the top level and not in folders is persisting.

Now on:

  • Android 13
  • Spotify 8.7.58.459

Other information:

  • Google Pixel 4a
  • Premium
  • Germany
