Music stopping while multitasking with pokémon go

Music stops when switching over to pokémon go, why? They say it is because Pokémon go is a full screen app and that Spotify automatically stops the music when opening one of those. Is that correct and if so, can it be changed in the next version?

Hi.

I might have found a work-around for you, not the best but.

Go into Pokémon GO settings and untick Music, Sound Effects and Vibration.

Exit Pokémon GO. Start Spotify start what you want to listen to. Start Pokémon GO. When music is paused bring down system tray, swipe down from top of screen, resume music.

Edit had to swap to Spotify and resume playback. Go back to Pokémon GO then resume Spotify music from system tray.

Worked on my Sony Xperia.

Note that I'm not sure if it's called system tray or not.

I've had the same issue. Gotta agree with on bypassing it, I think it's a PokemonGo issue rather than a Spotify one in this case. It used to work fine in an older update, but now, it causes all music to briefly stop, even when I unlock my screen to check my progress on the game while listening on Spotify. Try submitting a bug report in case Niantic decides to fix it 🙂

It is a way of solving it yes but I switch between apps A LOT and it means that every time I open Pokémon Go the music is stopped no matter when so even though I am happy for a solution it isn't the end of my problems I am afraid. Thank you though!
