My Question or Issue

I switched to Spotify last January because of its support for local files, which my last music service didn't support. I haven't had any trouble with local files since I joined, but for the last week or so, without any warning, none of my local files want to work on my phone anymore. I followed the steps on my PC again to try to redownload the songs, but for one reason or another, my phone decided it didn't like my songs, and doesn't even try to download them when I toggle the "download" switch in the playlist.

The local songs are still visible on my phone, they're just grayed out and nothing happens when I tap on any of them. I can hit "Shuffle Play" in my local files playlist, and it'll just tell me "this song is not available." I haven't moved the file locations on my PC, and they work just fine when I play them from my desktop, but even after following all the steps and making sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, my phone just isn't downloading them. I can download the rest of my Spotify music without trouble. The app is updated to the latest version as of 11/08/2020.

Is there anything else I can try in my quest to restore my poor local files?

Hey @Kesstar,

Thanks for getting in touch with us 🙂

If the songs are grayed out, it could be that they are in an unsupported format. You can look up the types of files that are supported here.

We'd suggest you also give these steps a go and run a clean reinstall. That way you can make sure the app is up-to-date and the cache is not causing any issues.

Hope this helps. If you have questions, we are here for you.
