No Equalizer on LG G3 (Premium Member)

No Equalizer on LG G3 (Premium Member)

Hi...

Had a Samsung Galaxy S4 - EQUALIZER option showed and worked fine.

Switched to LG G3 - EQUALIZER no longer present.

I have seen earlier posts referring to the same issue and some mention of LG "blocking some functions".

I just got done with LG and T-MOBILE (my carrier) - both of them said that this is complete nonsense and is an APP DEVELOPER issue.

So, here I am.

I hope to God that I won't have to wait 3+ years on THIS fix as I'm doing for the LIKED FROM RADIO duplicates issue, a separate thread in this forum.

Anybody have any insight on this item?

Thanks...

Andy

Hello and welcome to the community! 🙂

isn't this included at your settings -> Music Streaming quality -> Audio effects?

Im not working for spotify but if i was you i would download this application:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.VolumeControl&hl=en

You can control your EQ of all audio outputs of your phone 🙂

good luck!

Kind regards,

Max aka. Amarro

What is a Spotify Rock Star and how do i become one?

Im not a Spotify Employee.

On my LG, under ":Music Quality", I have STREAMING, DOWNLOAD, and SYNC OVER CELLULAR - NO Equalizer option like I had with my S4.

I appreciate the link to a 3rd-party app, and there are plenty out there, but that's besides the point - I want to know WHY this option is NOT showing on my LG G3, when it WAS on my S4.  I also want to know why Spotify previously gave some rooster-and-bull story about LG BLOCKING some features.  Utter nonsense.

I hope someone out there has some information on this, but I do appreciate your reply!

Hi,

If still missing it may be part of this bug, please go to the thread and post your details.

Android works slightly differently, rather than having EQ's per app/system etc they all tap into a global EQ which controls all volumes, settings globally for all apps that tap into the media output sound channel. The inbuilt EQ (or "Audio Effects" as it's called in the app) in spotify is essentially just a link to the Equalizer built into the ROM, if (as found in some Samsung & HTC devices) the EQ control is missing from the Android Settings then there is nothing for the Spotify to link to, as such it will remove the option.

If this is the case you need to install an app such as ViPER4Android FX (which is what I use), or Equalizer and the option will appear in the Spotify app. Clicking on it will take you to the EQ app where you can control the settings.

Hi, Daniel...

I appreciate your reply.  Two things...

a)  It IS part of that bug, as it's mentioned right in the beginning that LG G2 / G3 are affected.  This bug has been open since September 2013, and one thing I am learning quickly as a paying customer is that bug reports that have been open for years are essential ignored by Spotify developers - REALLY disheartening.  I have little to no hope that this bug will be fixed anytime soon, if ever.

b)  I happened to recently see a reply on some similar post - must have been from you since it mentioned the VIPER4, and I actually tried to install it because it looked decent.  When I installed it, it was looking for BEATBOX (?) to be installed - which it directed me to - and when I did, it gave me some kind of "Device isn't properly rooted / superuser" error - something to that effect,  Tried the whole pricess a second time, same error - again, frustration - and I gave up with that.  Any idea what may be happening here?  Did you run into the same issues?

Thanks...

Andy

Matter of fact, right on the VIPER site...

"Last Update Log

Note: FX v2.3.2.5 onwards:
1. Fully support x86 platform, but not fully optimised yet. (Using VHS+/Convolver may increase battery usage)
2. Fully support true octa-core devices.
3. Correctly-installed Busybox is required before installing V4A.

If you see V4A installation pop-up loop, its probably due to incomplete root."
I know nothing about rooting, not do I think I'd wnat to go down this road (void the warranty, for one thing) - or is it not as complicated as all of that?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that one is only for rooted devices.

My theory is that on some devices the manufacturer has blocked/removed access to the built in Android EQ interface and have not replaced with their own baked version. Which is why Spotify is not showing you an EQ... It doesn't have access to one. I can't be 100%, but it may be the only reason, as after all all devices are running the Google Android platform, it's just each manufacturer has tweaked the ROM before passing it out to the Devices.

I think the only way to get an EQ in these cases is to find one from the Play Store.

Well, LG claims that they haven't blocvked anything, so I don't know what to believe.  I was just used to the way my sound was with the built-in equalizer.  Seems odd to me that for whatever reason, it won't show up on this device, but all I can hope for is that any equalizer app that I find will come close to the sound that I am used to.  We'll see.

Thanks for your help and suggestions!

Andy

Just to confirm the guy above is totally right. It is well worth you rooting in order to get this working (as you can also get rid of some bloatware ie LG voice app) It's ridiculous it is unavailable on the G3. Kind regards

Still no equalizer in LG G3 using version 3.4.0.764, stock android 4.4.2 and a premium account.

I came here for someone to help me fix this on my LG G3 because it also doesn't have equalizer but since it doesn't and idk what, it sucks. I had it on my Samsung Galaxy S2...my 2011 S2. Now I am using a 2014 device and I don't see anything. Woow

The EQ is dependent on the manufacturer. It's not a Spotify issue. Since lg g3 doesn't have a native EQ it's not going to show.

I switched from a Samsung Galaxy to LG G3 and was disappointed to find that there is no equalizer on the G3.

After much reading on mobile audiophile forums, it is confirmed that this is an LG issue, not Spotify.

There are a few third party Andoid Eq/Amp apps that let you use the Eq to influence all device music, including Spotify. They all only offer 5 or 7 sliders maximum. Having tried them all, they either make no difference or even sound quality worse (and some bring along their own bugs and annoying add pop-ups).

The sound quality of the G3 is very good on its own, so I have simply settled for that.

LG G4 came out, even that phone isn't supported, very annoying since I have my headphone with Xtra Bass and it gives me almost no bass. Luckily I have a bass boost function in-built on the headphone, but it drains power 😞 Like to see a fix very soon for LG G users

Ok so i did a lot of research and ended up talking to both lg and spotify. So the eq setting on spotify actualy just adjusts your phones eq but some lgs dont come with eq so you will have to download an eq app
