So this started a while ago but I noticed after playing music in my truck that the songs that were playing weren't matching the display. Same on the phone. It gets stuck on one song but continues playing they playlist but not displaying the current song, only the one it was stuck on.

If I force close the app and restart it seems to work fine for a bit displaying the current songs and such but after a while it will get stuck and repeat the same cycle described above.

The other issue is if I turn of my truck, Bluetooth speaker or unplug headphones it continues to play Spotify when it used to stop the music but keep the app open.

When it gets stuck on a song it also gets rid of the notification bar and lockscreen display bar.

I have tried clearing cache, uninstalling and reinstalling, installing multiple apk older versions.

It doesn't seem repeatable it just seems to happen at random when I'm listening

I'm having a similar issue on a Galaxy Note 8.

My phone will autoplay when I get in the truck, or open the app, but rhe app shows the current song is aong "X", but song "Y" is playing.  I can press next or previous song, and it will change, but it still shows song "X" is playing.  I also dont have the ability to play or pause

I also had a few times lately where randomly during a phone call, or after hanging up, a song would just start playing.  The only way for me to stop it since the above issue was happening, was to bring up my Google assistant and tell it to stop all streams.  This would stop the music, but the above problem of showing the current song would still be happening.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and rebooted.

The only solution I've found is installing a previous version via apk. I was on version 8.5.40.195 and it was working fine, then it updated again a few days ago and the same issue occured. Re installed the apk I had and it's working great again

Where would I find the APK?

https://spotify.en.uptodown.com/android/versions

That's where I got it from, but I guess I spoke too soon as it just happened again when I was in my car. So Idk

I have the same issue as the OP, Samsung Galaxy 10 running Android 10.

I've seen a lot of people with the s10 having this issue. I too have an s10

Same problem here, using an S10e. Only fix I've found was uninstalling and reinstalling. I think the issue is caused by closing the app while a song is playing without pausing it first.

Looks like force stopping the app works. Hold on the app to open up the menu to uninstall, select items, remove from home, and app info. Go to app info then select force stop and next time you open it it'll be on whatever was actually playing.

I've tried force stopping and clearing data multiple times, but the problem still persisted.

Recently it went back to work normally, and I dont know if there was an update, or if it's because I uninstalled the Spotify app off of my Galaxy S3 Frontier smartwatch.

It's been working normally for a few weeks now.

Edit:  the only other issue I was having consistently with everything else was music playing, but the spotify app showed nothing,  nothing in the status nar, and the only way to stop was to force stop spotify or to tell google to stop all streams.  In the past few weeks I think this has only happened once.

Hi @Afhuff01,

Thanks for your reply.

We're happy to hear that you can play music normally after the recent update.

Please note that if your account is connected to multiple smart devices/ speakers, this might cause issues with cache and playback. What we recommend is to occasionally Log out from everywhere. Don't worry none of your account data will be lost, all you'd need to do after that is to log back in on all the devices you use. This forces your account to resync across all devices and sometimes helps with issues caused by broken cache.

Let us know if the last issue you described happens again. Uploading a screenshot or a video would also be helpful so we can see how your device looks while the Now playing view is not updating.

Thanks.

I have finally given up on trying to solve this issue. I had to uninstall the app three times in one day in order to fix it. I have now cancelled Premium duo. When I'm paying £13 per month for something I expect it to work!!!

After looking through these forums this issue has been going on for over a year. NONE of the suggestions about fresh installs, logging out, clearing cache work. It's clearly an issue that Spotify can't solve and is just kicking the can down the street while continuing to charge users for a broken product. Time to go to Youtube music...

Hey there @brettward

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community, and welcome!

We're sorry to hear that you feel like this. We can help further if you'd like.

It would be helpful to know in which devices this is happening and if you've tried any other steps than the ones you mentioned. This could help us give you better suggestions.

We'll be on the lookout.

Issue on S21, galaxy smart watxh and Google dot

Hey @Dentonp,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

This issue should already be fixed. You can take a look here to see what steps you can take to try and solve this.

As for issues regarding the Galaxy watch we suggest you head over to this thread where we are currently gathering the relevant details to pass on to our developers.

If you're experiencing a different issue you can start a new topic in the relevant help board since the root cause of this has been fixed and we are now looking at different issues.

We hope this helps. Let us know if there's anything else we can help out with 🙂

first link provided takes me to an access denied link?

Second thread appears to have been going since November (12 pages), how much detail is required!? All people are saying the same thing?

Hi @Dentonp,

Thank you for your reply.

It's odd the link isn't opening, but don't worry, we can keep helping you in this thread.

To start, let us know if you've already tried performing a clean reinstall of the app. This is often an overlooked step, but it’s more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful to get rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

If this doesn't work, please let us know the make, model, operating system and Spotify version you're running. This will help us keep investigating.

Keep us posted.

I have also been experiencing this issue.

I first noticed it last week after syncing the app with my Gear 3 watch to use as a control at the gym. Since then, the play data has not been correct as to the song playing, music automatically stops every 10 minutes of playback, the music continues after closing bluetooth headphones and I have to hard close the app in order to stop playback.

I've tried uninstalling, deleting cache and data and re-installing and still no changes.

Have just now done a Clean Re-install, so hopping that is now the end of this, as I am tempted to cancel my Premium Subscription over this issue.
