Offline songs refuse to play

I recently bought a new smart phone primarily for having a small device to download my playlists on. So I install the app and start downloading my playlists, which takes a while as i have around 3000 tracks. I finish downloading but find when use offline many off the songs just don't play at all. They say they're downloaded with the green icon but don't start playing when selected. However, I have found that playing the songs online, then going back to offline seems to fix the issue SOMETIMES, but can also cause other songs in the list to stop playing. I have reinstalled a number of times, redownloaded playlists and tried everything I can think of. I have no problems whatsoever with Spotify on my iPad. I hope someone out there is experiencing something similar and can help me out.

Also, sidenote, does anyone else find library/playlists can sometimes take upwards of a minute to load? This is a smaller issue but still no less infuriating.
