On demand playback not working

On demand playback not working

As of two days ago (11/12) on demand playback has stopped working on my Galaxy Note 12.2 tablet; it's stuck on shuffle play like it would on a phone. I'm running Android 4.4.2, and Spotify is updated to the latest version (v4.1.0.868, as of 11/14.) Actually, I believe it stopped working after an update. I tried reinstalling it, but that didn't change anything. Spotify still works correctly on my Windows PC. I am on the Free subscription tier. Any ideas?

Having same issue on my Kindle.

Hi, could you tell me your username on spotify? That gonna help us to solve the problem.

Problem is still her on Kindle Fire HD 7"

Username is the same 😉

I contacted Spotify directly, and they replied promptly:

Hi ****,

Thanks for reaching out to us. We're sorry to hear that you're unable to play your favorite music on-demand. You don't have to worry, we're always happy to help.

We've checked your account with username **** and found that you're currently using Spotify Free, which used to let users listen to music on-demand using tablets or computers, but that has changed. All Free users now use shuffle mode.

You can continue using our free, ad-supported service or subscribe to Premium anytime from your Subscription page and get rid of Shuffle Play.

It's been an absolute pleasure assisting you. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Have a nice day,

Valie

I checked their subscription plan page (https://www.spotify.com/no/) again, and they have indeed made that change.
