Could you try disabling your blue light filter (if you have one active)? For some reason, these seem to interfere with Spotify after a recent update.

This "solution" works for me too, but it's not really a solution. Please fix this in the next update, Spotify - there used to be no problem!
Just reporting in with the same problem, and to mention that it isn't just "blue light" apps. My brightness control app also conflicts with Spotify. I have to exit the app in order to use the options menu. This is very annoying, I hope a fix is coming soon.
