Periodic playback interruptions on mobile app playing on bluetooth devices

Periodic playback interruptions on mobile app playing on bluetooth devices

Devices: Oneplus 7 pro, galaxy buds 2 pro (AAC codec, same behaviour on SBC)

Android ver: 12

Issue: When the Spotify app is not in focus it will, sometimes, pause playback for 1-2 seconds and then resume playback. this only happens on bluetooth devices, when playing back through the phone speakers this issue does not pop up.
So far i tried giving Spotify all background permissions, restarting the app, restarting the phone, reinstalling the app, reconnecting the bluetooth device. I also switched audio codecs, switched replay quality in the spotify app (the problem is apparent in both streaming and downloaded tracks).

Playback of local media files or streaming through different apps does not portray this issue.

Hey @MarvFPV,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

The interference you're describing is a common issue when casting audio to Bluetooth speakers for an extended period of time. It's also commonly related to the Bluetooth connection directly and not the app or the affected device. This happens when the speaker is too far from the casting device, due to interferences in the Bluetooth signal or even due to the re-syncing of the bluetooth connection between devices.

However, if you use a Wi-Fi or AUX connection to the speaker, this issue doesn't happen as those types of connections are more stable for playing continuous audio.

You can also test this by using other apps for an extended period of time.

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.
