My Question or Issue

Near every time I open the Spotify app on my phone and select the first track on an album/playlist or anything else, it will not play in order. I look at the track, and sure enough, shuffle has been turned back on even though I listen to NOTHING on shuffle. This isn't some case of forgetting I've turned it on. I'm not slecting the large "play" button on a playlist with the shuffle icon, I'm selecting the first track and daily I have to remember to turn shuffle off. This has been going on for years at this point.

I have done multiple app wipes, and reinstalls. Same result. Shuffle will stay off for the day, but the next day it will default to on again.

To say this is annoying is an understatement.

Hi there @Gqsinfonian,

Thank you for your reply and detailed explanation. Let's take a closer look into this.

Can you start with confirming  if you followed the steps that's provided in this article? There's some more steps to help thoroughly uninstall the app from your device, so if you haven't, we'd highly suggest it since the steps will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

On another note, can you have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member to see if the issue persists? This will help us understand if it's account related or not.

We'll be on the lookout or your reply 🙂

Take care!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

I believe I have figured it out after quite a process of elimination. It's the morning alarm, long story short. I have the Google clock/alarm app and use it to wake up with, and instead of using a single sound or song as the tone, I set it to a playlist so that I don't get complacent to a single sound, and wake up easier. Then Google routines will keep it going through the house.  Even though the Spotify app isn't being opened, it's still using the account and "activating" shuffle on the device.

I turned off the alarm completely, shuffle did not randomly engage.

I turned the alarm on with a static or repeating song, shuffle did not radomly engage.

Still a little frustrating to have to turn it off when I listen later in the day but at least knowing what the cause is will help.
