Hey there,
Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community!
Just to confirm, is this happening across devices or only on a specific one? If this is happening only on a specific device, we suggest that you log out and then log in back in to your account twice in a row. This will help trigger a sync between your account and device. If this doesn't do the trick, you mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a normal one?
If the issue persists, could you check if the OS of your device is up to date? Also, could you let us know the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device?
We'll be on the lookout.
I have now tried to log out twice, it didn't work. I did a clean reinstall following the guide you provided but it still scrolls up to the top when I lock my screen and unlock it again.
I have an Fairphone 4 with android version 13.
Hey @Bangtanfox,
Thanks for your reply.
As a next step, we'd suggest going through your phone's settings and making sure that Spotify is allowed to run in the background and is not being restricted by any battery- or memory-optimizing services.
Let us know how it goes.
I've checked the settings in my phone but there's nothing stopping it running in the background activated.
I've noticed that the problem happens 100% of the time if I lock my phone screen when I have Spotify open. If I go back to my home screen before locking it, the playlist stays where I was and doesn't scroll up/refreshes.
Hey @Bangtanfox,
Does this happen to all playlists or just specific ones?
Could you take a look if the issue would happen with your account on a different device as well?
On your device you can also check with a different account (or a new account on the free tier for testing purposes) if the issue would persist. This way we'll know if it's related to that specific device and/ or its configuration.
Keep in mind that, as a workaround to get back to the currently playing song you can tap on the playlist title at the top of the Now Playing View (doesn't work for liked songs though).
Hope this helps; keep us posted!
Hi. The problem I have is only on my mobile phone and the only other device I have that can use Spotify is my PC and there is no problem on that one. Playlist doesn't matter, it happens to all of them. I screen recorded the issue but the file is way to big to send here. I'm going to try making the file smaller.
And to clarify, the issue only happens when I lock my screen while having Spotify open. If I go back to the home screen before locking my screen, the playlist won't refresh to the top of the list. I have roughly 500+ songs on my playlists so it gets annoying. I still need to try another account on my phone to see if it's linked to the one I use that's the issue, but I've looked through the settings on the app and my phone and found no solution.
Hi @Bangtanfox,
Thanks for keeping in touch and for the video.
As we haven't been able to reproduce the issue from our side, we need to check if this is account or device related. The steps mentioned before will help us know that. First, try logging in with a different account on your device. It's ok if you don't have another account, you can ask someone else to log in with their account for a moment and check. Or you can create a free account for testing purposes, and then delete it later.
On another note, try logging into your account on a different mobile device and check if the behavior is there as well. It can be a relative or friend's device.
Lastly, in the video we can see you're listening on a Bluetooth device. Does this happen when listening from the phone speakers or any other Bluetooth device?
We'll be here!
Hi! My boyfriend have the exact same mobile phone model and he has the same issue as me. He uses his own account so it doesn't seem to be related to the accounts. Both with Bluetooth headphones and on speakers have the same issue: locking the phone screen with Spotify open will scroll the playlist to the top once unlocked again.
Hi @Bangtanfox,
Thanks so much for the info.
Would it be possible to check if it happens with a different mobile device that is not the same brand or model? Maybe you can ask someone else who has a different device to check from their side.
On another note, did you notice if this started happening recently? Or has Spotify always work like on this specific device?
We'll be on the lookout!
I can try ask someone I know who has a different device to test.
The issue started earlier this year, maybe april or March? It was not an issue before this. I remember that when it started to happen I assumed I needed to update my phone or the app and that it would "solve itself". But it kept happening and has contributed to be an issue and annoyance ever since.
Hey @Bangtanfox,
Thanks for getting back to us with this info.
Make sure to keep us posted on how it goes with a different device.
We'll be on the lookout.
I have the same exact issue **bleep**, im on a s23 plus
Welcome to the Spotify Community @Chulkyy!
Do you have Smart Shuffle toggled on? If so, try toggling it off temporarily to see if that helps. It's also worth checking with a smaller-sized playlist (i.e. one that doesn't have that many songs in it) like your Daily Mixes, Discover Weekly or Release Radar.
If you haven't already, try using another Wi-Fi network to see if that helps. You can ask a friend or a relative to create a mobile hotspot for you to test this.
Cheers 🤘
I dont use smart shuffle at all, as for wifi it doesn't matter if I use wifi or my phone network. I'll try with a smaller playlist and see if that solves it.
