Premium account not allowing me to play the downloaded tracks offline

Premium account not allowing me to play the downloaded tracks offline

For some reason today my both Android devices (Samsung Galaxy & Nexus 7)  didn't allow me to play the downloaded tracks offline even though I'm up to date with my payments for the Premium subscription.

Is it a bug or is a business decission to not allow Premium subscription users play offline?

I thought you don't need a conection to the Internet to be able to play the downloaded music tracks on your device. My both devices didn't have Internet connection at the time.

Hi, and welcome to the Community!

Firstly, this is not a business decision, premium users are still allowed offline features.

Can you stream music on the device?

Try resyncing (safest way is to turn off offline mode, reinstall Spotify, resync playlists).

Any error messages displayed? Do you have a screenshot at all?

Check desktop spotiy still says 'Spotify Premium' at the top, and if you go to account settings>Manage your Subscriptions, it still says you have a premium subscription.

There was no error, though it displayed a message saying something about a 48hour trial has begun or something of that nature.

All the downloaded tracks were grayed out and I was logged in with my Premium account.

Just got to the office where I have Internet and now both devices allow me to play the tracks but again I'm online now not offline. I checked the desktop edition and shows Spotify Premium at the top of the window.

My Nexus 7 has Spotify version 0.5.11.4 and my Gallaxy has 0.5.12.52 , if that helps.

As I mentioned where I was I didn't have any Internet connection of any kind wifi or 4G so I woudn't attempt to do any streaming. I'll reboot both devices and I'll try to reinstall if the problem persists.

Thank you Anthony!

From the sounds of that message about a trial that makes it look like your subscription has ended. If it hasn't, yes a clean reinstall/reboot/re-login would do the trick.

Make sure you login with the account you activated with. Sometimes users activate using spotify details then login with facebook, a very easy mistake!

I checked the subscription before I sent this message and it's active.

I'm alows loging with a regular user account not with Facebook auth though it didn't ask for any authentication when I turned on the app.

I know I was logged in with my accound because I saw my music tracks but all of them were grayed out.

Can you make sure that there is a green arrow pointing down on the playlist (in the list of playlists)? If there isn't, that probably means you forgot to enable offline mode.

Well, for some reason I had to re-download all my play lists on my both devices. Not sure how the files I had before would disappear from both devies but it did.

I'll check again today to see if I can play the fresly re-downlaoded tracks.
