Prevent Sleep Mode and Settings

Hi all,

Two quick questions.  I'm using Spotify radio on mobile and it gets frustrating that my phone goes into sleep mode when Spotify is playing.  I'd like to find a way to prevent this so I hoped to find a setting.  Which brings up another point -- there doesn't seem to be any settings screen.  I press the menu button and nothing happens - no options, no setting screen, no nothing.

So... is there a way to prevent the phone from sleeping and are there settings that I can adjust on the mobile radio?

I've also found spotify to be best when the device is prevented from sleeping, and have wished that this would be doable through settings. But, in the absence of that, I've downloaded an app called WakeLock, and used it to keep the device awake in the background while I'm using Spotify in the foreground. Hope this helps.

The devices are designed not to over use the screen, thus making it go to sleep mode after a certain period of time has been reached. I for one have a selection of 5sec to 10min to keep the screen open. I usually keep it in 5 sec and close it myself. Just put the spotify to stream -> shut the screen and continue working. If need of change a song, power on the screen -> use the lock screen functions to change it.

Screen can be kept up if the device is in a cradle or recharging on certain ways.

Note has quite a large screen so I wouldn't think of keeping it powered on without it being recharging.

I'm curious why you want the device to stay awake anyways?

The settings menu can be found by touching the button in the upper left corner with the three horizontal lines on it, but there is no option within spotify to keep the screen on, for that u need a seperate app

Here's how I solved the problem:

Download the Tasker app for $2.99.  Then set up a rule for an application event of "Spotify", and for the Action, specify that the display timeout be set to 23 hours (obviously more than we'll ever need).

Works like a charm.  I know it's a separate app and costs a couple bucks, but an easy solution and well worth it in my view.
