Whenever I search on Spotify it only searches for downloaded music. It does this both when I use Wi-Fi and data and it's really annoying. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my device, and turning on and off the offline mode. Anyone have any ideas to fix it?
Hey @1-_whxwcgtdxv, welcome to the Community!
How long has this been going on? Did this start happening after an app or OS update? If you haven't already given it a try, go ahead and do a clean reinstall to see if it helps.
Let us know how it goes.
I havr the ame issue since yesterday, clean install didn't do anything. All other online functions work, just not the search.
Hey @spklvr12, thanks for getting back to us.
Sorry to hear the reinstall didn't work. Does the issue persist after you log out and back in a few times? You can also try enabling airplane mode for a while and then disabling it to see if it makes a difference.

I also have the same issue since a number of days back. And since I don't have any downloaded music it makes my Spotify next to useless. Neither clean uninstall nor logging out and back in a couple of times (what a stupid suggestion) works. My Spotify is broken. You need to help fix this
Same problem. Spotify sucks.
I just noticed this same problem on wifi today.
There are a TONS of threads here about this exact problem. Why do you keep pretending like this is a random and unexpected thing when there are so many reports about it? Clearing cache and reinstalling? It DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM!
What we need is a REAL bug fix from Spotify, not a generic "maybe you should try restarting your phone" blurb.
Same problem here for the past 4-5 months on and off. It screws with my bluetooth connection with my car also and doesn't let me skip/pause songs, which is annoying. Have tried contacting spotify 3-4 times, each time they tell me to 'clean reinstall', each time I say 'OK, this didn't work last time, but i'll do it, even if it means redownloading 8 GB of songs', and they say 'it's different this time, we did _x_ on our end and it won't happen again'

Eatou com esse mesmo problema há dias Spotify. Será que vou ter que cancelar e contratar outro app? Resolvam esse problema!!
I had the same issues with searching and connecting to the Bluetooth in the car, along with display issues. I found that restarting my device usually fixes the problem. Hope that helps!
I have a Galaxy S7.
I've found that if I force close Spotify via settings-> apps on my phone and then reopen it, the search function works properly. I've used this trick half a dozen times and it's never failed. It's annoying to have to do, but it's better than reinstalling and redownloading everything.
Of course this only works if you have an Android. Don't know what the equivalent would be for iPhone. Hope it helps!
This worked for me, thank you!
Holy sh*t! It's 2022 and this is still the only working fix.
