Remote play on android device: Prevent device from becoming unavailable when screen turns off

Solved!

Remote play on android device: Prevent device from becoming unavailable when screen turns off

I'd like to have on of my devices permanently connected to the speakers and remote control it from my Android phone. I've got a second Android phone to do that. It appears that whenever the second phone turns the screen off it continues playing, but once I pause I cannot get it back playing and Spotify says "unavailable" for playback on that device until I turn the screen on again.

Is there any solution to this? Wasting battery is not really a concern as this phone will be permanently connected to a charger.

Disabling the lock screen completely (i.e. set to "none", not even "slide") appears to solve this.

I got the same problem connecting my Surface with Windows 10 to my android phone. I can not change setting to always an since Im using usb for audio out instead of charging.

I also use my old android phone for playing music via speakers, there is some old version of Spotify app (4.xx) and I'm controlling it over second phone –it worked perfectly until autoupdate on this phone to actual version from 6/2/2018 (don't see the version number on market).

Downgrading to 8.48.32.623 from www.apk4fun.com/history/9887/ solved the problem.
