My Question or Issue

I frequently share music with my friends via text. I used to about a year or so ago receive a preview thumbnail of the track shared or when I share them. Now all of the song links say "unsupported browser" and I don't get a preview. Also I is hit or miss of the song sent shows up and plays on my device. Sometimes it will play, sometimes it goes to the Spotify app and stays on the home page, and sometimes it will go to an artist page. I have tried to reset my app and it still does this. Any reason why this may have changed and how I can correct this?

Hey @quaysey,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

The thumbnail previews of songs were deprecated not long ago, but could you tell us more about how the app behaves when you click on the link? The landing part of the app depends on the song link as well. Are you able to land on the same part of the app with the same link? Try different links.

Also check the Spotify app permissions on your phone.

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

When I send a link to a friend and I click on my link, it works and goes to the track I shared

When a friend sends me a track, it does one of 3 things.

1. Takes me to a artist's homepage (I'm assuming it's the artist who made the track they sent

2. Take me to the Spotify app but just the home page

3. It goes to the Spotify app and plays the last song I listened too. Even when I close the Spotify app, it will so this.

4. It takes me to the track the person sent me

What permissions would potentially change the outcomes I'm getting?

Also why was the thumbnail preview done away with? Users with iPhone still have this feature to my knowledge. This was a great feature where I could keep track of music that was previously shared

Hey @quaysey,

Thanks for the reply.

The song previews were removed to make room for other improvements of the platform.

Do the described occurrences happen with the same link or with different links? Depending on where the link has been taken from it may lead to different parts of the app. Could you share links and describe the behavior with the exact links?
