My Question or Issue

It doesn't let me listen to music that are not downloaded and it says when I search for a song, that I can't listen to songs that aren't downloaded as I'm in offline mode. But in the settings it's not in offline mode. What can I do??

Having the same issue. Rebooted device, toggled wifi on/off, airplane mode on/off, toggled offline mode on/off in Spotify. Started with the app update yesterday. Is a little release QA too much to ask for? This is the second busted release in a row on Android.

Device is a Samsung S9+ on Android 8

It worked, thanks!

Thank you for posting this. The forum however shows your reply as a "solution". It's not solved right?

2 days agoI  deleted the app, rebooted, reinstalled, got functionality back. Today? Broken again. Can't do a search outside of my existing downloads-- but I'm streaming online!

I've been using Spotify for 5 years and I'm about to punch "cancel" on my subscription because I can't find a fix for this nonsense.

I've got the same problem. I can listen to all my playlists just fine, even though none of them are downloaded. However, when I go to search for a song I get a message saying that I have to connect to the internet.

It's like Spotify doesn't realise that I'm already connected to the internet.

NOT SOLVED!

The problem consists on my Galaxy S8.

The title display is bugged too. When I skip three songs, it always shows me the title of the third skipped song, doesn't matter which song I play.

  • Could someone delete the "solved"-mark so we have a chance to get a solution or answer?

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community.

Have you tried any of the proposed solutions on this thread?

Let us know if you have any luck.

Thanks,

Hi Peter,

Yes, thanks for your reply. I don’t use Facebook, don’t have firewalls, etc. As you can see at the end of the 50+ pages of that thread, the problem still ongoing.

For me there was  online functionality for radio and streaming, but not for search, so I could only search downloaded material. Downloads were not available, but sometimes they happened anyway in the background. This was all very strange because the app was not blocked, the blocking was selective within the app.

Uninstalling and reinstalling worked only for a couple of days, then it went back to headache mode. I can’t uninstall and reinstall and redownload daily, so at this point I’ve just left it uninstalled. That fixed the headaches.

I’ll keep an eye on these threads and come back once the issue disappears.

I'm having this issue as well.  I'm on a Note 8, logging in directly (not using facebook login).

I can stream non-saved/downloaded music for a bit before it will say I'm offline.  But I have full bars with LTE and/or a good wifi connection.  I noticed that I can sometimes listen to certain playlists, like my discover weekly, when it says I'm offline, but it won't let me seach for anything.

I am also experiencing issues with the play pause button not being accurate on teh phone, and when synced to my vehicle (2017 Ford Focus), the car screen doesn't display the correct song (it gets frozen on a song and when I skip forward it doesn't update).

Closing the app and reopening works for a little bit (~ 15 minutes).  I also noticed that songs will randomly stop playing, and I have to go back into the app and hit play again.

Started happening about a week to 10 days ago.  Uninstalled the app, restarted teh phone, and reinstalled the app.  No change.  I'm close to cancelling my subscription as this is really annoying....

Hey there @12parsecdsm and @AnotherMutant,

On another note, @12parsecdsm you can follow the troubleshooting steps here for the issue you see when using the app in your car.

Let us know how that goes!

Hello Katerina,

I followed the steps in the other post but no luck.  I left my phone and software info in that thread.

I'm not having an issue playing music in my car.  It connects fine and plays music.  The issue is that the info on my car's screen does not match what Spotify is playing.  Restarting the phone fixes it for a bit, but then it happens again.  It never did that before the update.

One other thing I noticed is that I no longer get the small music controller on my lock screen like before.  Now I have to unlock the phone and actually open teh Spotify app in order to pause the music.  Very annoying.

Thanks for your help.

Hey @12parsecdsm.

Thanks for your update 🙂

Regarding the music controller on your lock screen: sounds like you might be having the issue described in this post.

This is currently an ongoing issue that we are looking into. Do head on over there and leave the requested info so that it can be gathered by our tech folks.

Cheers,
