Shuffle function Liked Songs

Shuffle function Liked Songs

My Question or Issue

For some reason since the last update, the shuffle function in my liked songs, instead of shuffling the songs, creates the same 'playlist' based on from which song I trigger the shuffle function. This is quite annoying, because it keeps repeating the same songs. No matter how often I press shuffle, the same songs keep popping up in the same order.

Hi @johannesdedoper,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

Sorry to hear that you're having such an experience with the app.

We'd recommend running a clean reinstall of the app. Please follow the steps from this Spotify Guide exactly, as this will assure that all app data is cleared completely, before reinstalling. If that doesn't make a difference, you can try adding/ removing a song from your Liked Songs.

Keep us posted on how you get on with this.

Cheers.

Hello,

I have deleted and reinstalled the app on my iPhone  3xs now and still, I cannot shuffle my liked song AND ever since the first deletion I can no longer search my liked songs.

Please advise.

Hey there @eleanorlucille

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

Just to confirm, is this only happening with your Liked songs or with all your playlists? Also, we'd like to know if this happens across devices or only on a specific one.

On another note, would you mind asking a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your device and check if the same happens with a different account?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

This issue is still not solved for me, and I tried all the suggested solutions above (clean re-installations, adding/removing songs from liked songs). Happens on both my Android app and Linux desktop.

Extremely frustrating. I haven't added 1400 songs to the liked ones just to hear the same ones over and over again.

I have the same issue.  I have a large list of liked songs (12k+).  I have tried using the app on my android phone, windows desktop app, and the web browser version.  The web and desktop app both have the shuffle button greyed out.  None shuffle the songs.  I only ever get a list of the same ones in the same order.

Hey there @liamderice

Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community!

Just to confirm, does this only happen on your Liked songs playlist or on other playlists as well? If it only happens on your Liked songs playlist, keep in mind that large playlists might affect the app's performance. That being said, we'd recommend trying to split that playlist into smaller ones and check if that makes the difference.

Also, we're currently aware of similar issues with the Shuffle feature and we've been gathering info about it in this thread. If you're experiencing the same as the other users in that thread, make sure to send all the details including the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your affected devices there. We'll keep you up to date about any possible fixes or improvements.

Let us know how it goes 🙂

Thanks @Eni, I will keep my eye on that other thread :D.

Yeah, I certainly understand that it might take some time to shuffle the songs on first load, it just never does (I'll leave the browser & desktop app open for days to allow it to process) :P.

Just to clarify it is only on the liked songs.  I have a playlist that has hit the 10k limit and it does shuffle.

Hey there @liamderice,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

Since you mentioned this is happening only with your Liked Songs playlist, we highly suggest you make a copy of it into a regular playlist to see how it goes. You can easily copy all the songs in a new playlist by scrolling until the last track in your Liked Songs playlist and clicking at it while pressing shift. All songs will be selected and by clicking the right mouse button, you can add them to the new playlist.

Keep in mind that it'd be better to divide the Liked Songs playlist into smaller ones, so you can avoid any issues. Now, since this is already being looked into on the aforementioned thread by @Eni, take into account any developments on the matter will be posted there. Additionally, we'd recommend you post just in one thread to avoid confusion.

We hope you found this helpful. We're always here to help.
